I was at Morrisons as soon as they opened at 7 this morning. I always go at that time as I'm an early riser anyway and I have the store and carpark pretty much to myself as a rule:j. It wasn't all that busy even after I'd finished today but the lady on the till said it was heaving yesterday from 9 until closing time and she was expecting the same frenzy today:eek:
With my cooking facilities being so limited this year I don't know whether it was easier or harder deciding what to buy:rotfl:. I still managed to spend plenty:o
OH is a demon for mince pies. I have to hide them too. Maybe it's a man-thing;).
Have a good day, everyone:beer:0 -
HHD - I think I've got one of the cardboard slot things if you want it?
I can check for definite later/tomorrow when I'm at home. I know I had one, just can't remember whether I've already decluttered it or not"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Loving everyone else's Christmas food problems!
Mince pies and sausage rolls I make from scratch thankfully and always end up with mincemeat left over - at a pinch there are sausages in the freezer as a rule too so doing more wouldn't be a problem! I left the ones I took to my parents that didn't get eaten on Sunday with them so we just had the few that we extras at home although they have all gone now! Very glad that the supermarkets we'll be using for our christmas food shop on saturday will not be the madhouses that a lot of you will have to face too!
Carboot I really feel for you on the problem with your electrics - hopefully it will turn out not to be as bad as expected when you can get a full inspection done. we've got a few issues needing sorted at home but thankfully everything still works - we've taken the view that if it hasn't killed us in the past 14 years hopefully it won't start now, but will get it done after christmas.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

You are an early bird! I wish I could get there that early. DH is an owl rather than a lark and I'm inbetween. I feel sorry for people who work in supermarkets at this time of year .
It seems to be impossible to keep to budget at this time of year .
It must be a man thing re the mince pies :rotfl:. I'd rather have Prosecco.

That is very sweet of you jwil but I have already ordered one from ebay. It wasn't that expensive. I may actually take it to the shops with me next time I buy presents. It will be useful if I ebay stuff as well.

Will you be doing your Saturday Christmas food shop in the Hebrides EH?
I wish I could make my own mince pies but never seem to have any energy for that sort of thing once I've done everything else. Maybe a retirement project or a way to lure the DC back for a visit once they leave home :rotfl:. Although I suspect DH would eat them faster than I could make them :rotfl:.

I have found secret to DH not eating the Christmas food until Christmas is not to buy it until the shopping day before Christmas Day (in our case this Friday) or if it is a bargain or something which is likely to sell out I buy it beforehand and hide it on top shelf of cupboard behind the herbal teas as he never looks there!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I have a similar approach with not buying stuff or hiding the out and out bargains in the cleaning cupboard. My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

I didn't hide the sausage rolls that well from Mr SA, he's found them, but he's on strict orders not to touch them, they're for Christmas Eve.
He used to really annoy my mum every Christmas by feeling the presents under the tree and guessing (often very accurately) what they were. My mum preferred surprises so was never impressed.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Very cunning Enthusiastic Saver
. It seems surprisingly easy to hide food from DH's
:rotfl:.
Congratulations btw, I see from your signature that you have now retired early. I am very jealous.
