As you say certainly no bribes now & no nectar incentives. Just prices going up everywhere & not just Sainsbug’s sadly.Delichon said:
It was a few weeks ago, beanielou. It was a legitimate survey, I heard about it on BBC Breakfast and then saw a mention of it in the Daily Mail! I think Asda used to be considered the cheapest of the 4 but at the time of the survey and for that particular 'basket' they were beaten by Sainsburys. They're all at it at the moment though as I saw a TV ad this week where Tesco are saying they are cheaper than Aldi. I think the situation changes by the day. What I have noticed though is that Sainsburys have stopped all the voucher codes that used to appear in my online account most weeks. The good old days of BOGOF and 3 for 2 at all the supermarkets are long gone. They know we're all desperate and will buy whatever's available. They don't need to bribe us to shop with them any more do they?beanielou said:Cant believe Mr S is the cheapest of the big 4!!

People's shopping habits during the lockdown would make a very interesting study. I expect people have stopped stockpiling toilet rolls now (I managed to get some on my last online order for the first time in weeks) but now there seems to be a dearth of eggs, bananas and flour. (for supermarket home delivery anyway). No eggs of any kind on Sainsbury's website when I did my order the other day. I haven't seen a banana for weeks, it's like what elderly relatives told me about wartime shortages! It's probably all these home bakers realising for the first time that home-made is cheaper and far tastier than bought goods. Apparently home-made banana bread is the current 'big thing' LOL6

Both Mr A and Mr s do own brand pods of various strengths which are compatible.milann said:A nespresso is just a different make of coffee machine. A gift to us but when I’ve looked at different, cheaper pods in the shops they’re compatible with tassimo but I haven’t found any you can use with mine - other than the branded ones.

I love it, too, beanielou. I used to make it a lot especially if I had any 'past it' bananas to use up. Chance would be a fine thing now, all I want is a banana just to enjoy eating as a piece of fruit.beanielou said:Interesting that banana bread is the new thing. Been making for years. My Granny used to make 'seed cake', a lovely loaf-style cake with caraway seeds in. It was always my favourite as a child, I never seemed to be interested in iced cakes or ones with jam or cream in. I might have a go at making a seed cake if I ever manage to get any flour and eggs LOL. I don't know how available caraway seeds are nowadays either. Tastes change so.7 -
If I have any bananas that are going to go off, I put them in the freezer.
Then if I fancy 'banana ice-cream', I take one out, peel it quickly with a sharp knife and eat it frozen - they are really delicious, and fewer calories than actual ice-cream.6 -
I’ve not had a problem getting eggs or bananas it’s flour and butternut squash I’ve struggled to find, although sorted now 👍I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Delichon - Caraway seeds shouldn't be too difficult to find - we bought some fairly recently as they are an ingredient in a one-pot meal we like to cook. I'm pretty sure they just came from the supermarket, though I can't remember which one.
