  • Thanks everyone :). I wish dad and stepmum would delay the party but they seem blissfully unworried at the moment! It's a landmark birthday but the party could be delayed I'm sure. They will probably be very upset if we don't go but I don't want to lose DH and we really can't afford to spend all that money at the moment. After all they won't pay our bills for us will they!

  • School was fine today. I had a tummy ache when I got up 😱 but decided to ignore it and I was fine once I was at school and busy. The children were doing art and mini sports in the hall so a busy afternoon was had by all 🤣. We had lovely sunshine which made lunchtime enjoyable but it was raining at home time!

I'm glad it's the weekend though as my tummy still feels a bit strange after I eat 😥 and it will give my cold time to improve. I feel guilty every time I blow my nose 🙄 but I know it's just a cold as I've had it a week and a half and I've got no cough and haven't had a temperature.

Tomorrow we're going to meet aunt and uncle at a NT place for a walk and coffee. After that we're going to go on a toilet roll hunt 🤣. I don't want to buy expensive ones unless I get really desperate so it will be interesting to see how we get on. We also need dishwasher tablets, milk and some other bits and bobs.

I hope everyone is having a good Friday 13th :).

Evening HHD :) Hope the iffy tummy wears off so you can enjoy your weekend. I don't think a cold is one of the symptoms is it but I hope it clears up quickly anyway.

DD has just text me. Her uni has made the decision to close today although third years are still going in as they're a priority for exams but at least there won't be as many people around them. Has DS had any information from his Uni or are they just carrying on as normal for now? I think she's only 2 weeks from Easter Hols anyway, so not a massive shut down really but a good call in my opinion. xx

Thanks TF2 :). As far as I know DS3's uni is still open but he's not exactly forthcoming with information 🤣. His uni is also only two weeks from the Easter hols so they may decide not to bother. As DS3 is young and healthy he should be fine even if he caught it although if he gave it to DH it wouldnt' be good :(

Your point about hotel rooms is a good one and I hadn't even thought of that 😱. We would be spending two nights in hotels (already booked but one is cancellable).

This is a really hard thing to say & I don't exactly like myself for saying it, but if this thing is going to keep coming back year after year, then provided you can only get it once, perhaps it would be a good thing if those of us who are fit & well did actually catch it & provided the "herd" protection the rest of the population need.

Hopefully we won't go down the Italian route which appears to be abandon any elderly person to their fate - well actually not treat them & if they are in ICU with either that or something else & someone younger & fitter comes in with the virus then they get the ICU bed.
I understand what you mean Badmemory, bearing in mind that most people will have a mild illness, maybe only elderly people or those with underlying conditions should self isolate and everyone else may be better off catching it. Who knows? 🤔 It's all just theories and nobody really knows what the best thing is to do.

I'm pig in-the-middle at the moment between a DH who thinks we are besieged by the Black Death and has said he won't be around much when DD1 and DGS visit tomorrow, and a friend who pooh-poohs the whole thing as a media frenzy in order to sell newspapers !!!

The birthday party sounds a very expensive outlay for you at the moment, particularly as I suspect a lot of people with their own businesses (except food delivery!) may well find the coming months pretty lean. Could you bite the bullet and explain ?
Thanks Elizabeth :). I think we've pretty much decided that we're not going to go to the party. It's just when I break the news to my dad :(. I'm going to see him in the summer anyway so it's not like I won't see him for a year.
