I hope your tummy trouble has got better now, HHOD. After a busy week at work the last thing you need is a weekend where you feel under par and unable to do everything you have planned.
As for the really cheap toilet rolls, they area total waste of money IMO. Like you, we use them as tissues as well but there are less sheets per roll on the real 'value' ones than slightly more expensive ones. I remember reading that your family get through a massive amounts of TR and that's probably because everyone needs to use more because of the thinness so it's not cost effective in the long run. I also remember you saying once that you'd tried more expensive ones and they didn't last any longer but I wonder whether that's because your family are so used to having to use more sheets each time and carried on using the same number of sheets of the better quality ones even though they didn't need to IYKWIM. After years of always having the thinner ones it might take a while to get used to the amount of sheets you need of the slightly more expensive ones. Just a thought, for what it;s worth. I hope your TR hunt is successful and not too stressful. I tend to buy Asda Shades TRs nowadays. They fit the bill in every way especially when they are on offer.
As for the return of the coronavirus every year I've heard various theories. I think the truth is that because it's so new nobody really knows what will happen with it. Even if we develop the 'herd immunity' that has been mentioned I'm not sure it's a guarantee that it will cover us in future outbreaks. I know with 'normal' flu the vaccine is modified each year because the strain of flu varies from year to year and the fact we had it one year or were vaccinated isn't total protection for a newer strain rearing its ugly head.
Wishing you and your family a good weekend. The outing with your Aunt and Uncle sounds lovely and I hope the sun shines for you. Take care xxx.2 -
Thanks Delichon
. My tummy is feeling a bit better now although still not normal, just a bit of discomfort.
We definitely spend less money when we buy cheap toilet rolls as I've experimented with both methods.
Yes nobody really knows what will happen with the virus, it's all just guesswork and theories. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

We had a nice walk at the NT place and saw lots of beautiful spring flowers. It was good to catch up with aunt and uncle too
. We decided to try and be more frugal so we decided not to buy any lunch or snacks out. We made sure we had a good breakfast before we went and then just had a coffee in the coffee shop and a very late lunch when we got home. We managed to dodge the rain which was lucky as it started just as we left. We were outdoors most of the time and sat outside to have our coffee as it seemed safer (although a little chilly).
TOILET ROLL UPDATE 🤣
We went to BnM and Mr S on the way home to buy a few bits. We found cheap toilet rolls and kitchen roll in BnM 🎉🎉🤣. Then managed to buy the soap brand we always buy anyway in Mr S as well as pasta, vegetable oil, dishwasher tablets, etc. We didn't buy anything that was a lot more money than we would normally spend, for example they had antibac wipes but only a very expensive brand and we haven't run out yet so we didn't buy them. There were very sparse supplies of pasta, soap, oil, etc, in Mr S and lots of empty shelves, so we were probably lucky to get any of them at all. There was plenty of bread, milk, etc. There was definitely a feeling of desperation in the air in Mr S 😱. It's completely bonkers. I was starving in the supermarket but I was determined not to buy a snack and had a really late lunch at 3pm when we got home 😇.
Now I need to put a wash on and empty the bins but I feel too lazy to get off the sofa.
I hope everyone is having a good Saturday so far.

My dad and stepmum have decided to postpone her birthday party because of the virus as they didn't want to put themselves or their guests at risk, so I'm very relieved about that
although disappointed not to see everyone of course, but mainly relieved!
I've emptied the bins but couldn't face doing any washing so that will have to wait until tomorrow, the walk and shopping tired me out! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It sounds like the sensible thing to do. - cancelling the party. It’s such a shame though as I suspect a lot of planning would have gone into it. My son-in-law has lots of nice things planned for his 40th next month - none of which are likely to happen now.I wouldn’t be surprised if your ds finishes uni earlier than expected for Easter.....it all a case of wait and see. There are various rumours flying around school about closures and extended holidays over Easter - but that’s exactly what they are atm...rumours. Nobody knows and I don’t think we will get much notice if and when things happen......unsettling times.January spends - £587.585

Thanks Milann
. Yes a lot of planning has gone into it but it's a sensible decision in the circumstances as several family members are in the high risk groups.
DS3's uni have said they're cancelling large gatherings and are monitoring the situation closely so who knows. His term ends in two weeks and so does mine. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
