HHoD - It is a lovely idea to get a clump of snowdrops from your Mum's garden. It will be lovely to think that they were from her garden & it is also the exact right time to be dividing & planting them, while they are 'in the green', so they should get established much easier than planting new bulbs.
Also, they will spread & in not too many years, you will be dividing your Mum's clump to replant more pots or patches. The first February we moved into our current house, Mr F bought me a little pot of snowdrops for Valentine's Day, which were in bud & just coming into flower. I planted them under the pear tree & that was honestly the nicest present......truly the gift which kept on giving, because they have populated the whole little bed under the pear tree with snowdrops which have been in flower on Valentine's Day ever since! I've never moved any others there, so I know they have all come from that one little pot which was both given & planted with love. I think yours will be the same. I brought some plants from my Mum's garden after she died & it does help to see them & know that some of the flowers she treasured are still with family members & enjoyed. Mum was such a good gardener. She taught me pretty much all I know.....apart from worm composting, which she thought was a bit yuk.

Thanks Everyone
. I seem to have been really tired and busy lately so I haven't posted for a few days.
My weekend was fine but busy. On Saturday I went to the shops and bought a flat cap in a charity shop for £5.99 and an eye mask for £5.50 for my Burglar Bill costume for world book day. Then I bought a few bits of food and came home.
On Sunday we popped to my Mum's house and picked up a few items and I dug up a clump of snowdrops from the garden and planted them in a pot at home. They look nice and I'm hoping they'll grow well in my pot. I've never had snowdrops in my garden and it's lovely to think that they came from Mum's garden. I always find it makes me feel sad to go there though so I felt a bit emotionally drained afterwards.
Today I had a good day at school and it was sunny which was lovely. Cold though and the wind gave me a bit of a headache at lunchtime. Another day another timesheet.
I hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Lovely to have the snowdrops. I'd plant them out in the garden after they've flowered. I find they disappear after a year or two in pots, probably because there's not enough nutrients to keep them going. As someone else said in her garden they've proliferated. I had some fritillaries in a fair sized pot and a few came up the second year but none this (3rd) year. I've bought some more but planted them straight out this time.
Good luck with them.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0426 -
