Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I don't have to be in until lunchtime today so I was able to have a lie in until 8am. Which is just as well as I took ages to get to sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about my mum
.
Since getting up I've put a wash on but I've mainly been relaxing as the rest of my week is going to be busy. I've also been pondering what costume to wear for world book day next week. They like homemade costumes at my school so I think I'm going to go as Burglar Bill. I've already got a navy and white striped top I can wear, so I just need to look for a flat cap in a charity shop and a cheap eye mask that I can cut holes in. Then I need a swag bag of some sort. I can adapt a bag from home and write swag on it. It should look pretty good I think 😂. Last year I went as Mr Bump. I just wore a blue t-shirt and wrapped bandages around my head and middle 🤣.
Anyway I need to dash as I've got to start getting ready now. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

As always, you have loads of washing, and it got me thinking about how necessary all our washing might be. Obviously I can only speak for myself and DH, but I've found that most of the time a top is perfectly fine for 2 days - this is quite a recent revelation as I always just changed by habit. However on jury service, which is more akin to going out to work, I really wanted a fresh outfit each day (except trousers). I suspect lots of us wash by habit when our Grannies would have made do because they didn't have as many clothes.
When our washing-machine broke down once and it was 2 weeks before the new one came, it almost seemed worse than the fridge being unavailable. Washing by hand is a real pig.6 -
HH an LSA is a Learning Support Assistant. I’ve no idea what the pay difference is but at my last school I was a TA and a grade higher than I am now. That was a special school though with a very slightly different banding. I was a bit worried that I’d drop in wages when I changed. I work a couple of hours more a week here - my pay difference was about a tenner a month more where I am now. We basically work with the SEND children.....although most of us do lots of other things too ( there’s a ‘jobsworth’ who won’t do anything other than what she needs to).... and depending on the child we’re working with often take other children to make a group too. We have a particularly high percentage of SEND children as the local special schools have no spaces - so rather than have a particular child we work as a team of 8 LSAs doing interventions over several children. The TAs take groups, do displays and get things organised for the teachers. HLTAs cover for the teachers. That’s how it works on a good day when we’re fully staffed 😂😂😂January spends - £587.587

Glad you survived the wedding, another hurdle over.
I think most of us are the same with work, we don't like the thought of going then enjoy it when we get there (well sort of).

I think most of us are the same with work, we don't like the thought of going then enjoy it when we get there (well sort of).. I'm always happy to go back after a weekend. I find holidays so busy that I usually wish I had another week, but even then I still want to go back. Too much leisure time would fill me with dread 😱.

I always go with the rule of thumb that if it isn't obviously dirty and doesn't smell, it doesn't get washed. Hanging things back up freshens them up a great deal, gets rid of most creases, and saves a lot of effort, energy, money and time on unnecessary washing.Live the good life where you have been planted.

I had a good day today. It was sunny all day which always helps and is a pleasant change 😎. I think it's going to be back to normal tomorrow though with heavy rain. I feel tired but I've enjoyed my day. I am looking forward to an ordinary weekend with no weddings, hen nights, etc, just a nice, normal, relaxing weekend
.
Tonight my plan is to do absolutely nothing apart from shower and make my packed lunch for tomorrow, as it's DH's turn to cook. I forgot to take a coke with me so wasted 90p on the way home 🙄 and I also bought some tomatoes and carrots which came to £1.39 between them. I'm thinking I may have a carrot or a handful of tomatoes as a snack at breaktime (normally I don't eat anything then).
I hope everyone has had a good Thursday.
