Caught up with everything on your diary, glad the wedding is out of the way for you now, it must have been hard going but at least you caught up with relatives.Really pleased to read you have got the assignments done, how much more of your course is their left?Payday tomorrow is always welcome.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.7

Happy Monday !
Jury service finished today (11 working days), mixed satisfaction and frustration. Second case was 2 low-lifes that we couldn't convict due to insufficient evidence, even though they were lying through their teeth about several things :{
What with body-cams and torches that didn't work, evidence not gathered, and over 18mths between arrest and trial, I can only wish the police were MUCH better funded. If, as a country, we want an efficient police force with 'teeth'. then we have to be prepared to pay for it, and of course every other department has its claims as well.9 -

. It's not a day I would like to repeat but it's over with now.
I've done four assignments and I've still got another five to do and another observation at school, so I'm not even halfway, but I'll get there in the end. I'm planning on doing three assignments over the easter holidays so I'll easily finish the course by the end of the summer term.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

That sounds quite frustrating. All public departments are underfunded at the moment and it does make them less able to do their jobs as well as they would like to

Well that's Tuesday done (at school anyway). I had quite a good morning in the classroom. Lunchtime was wet 💧🌧 for the last fifteen minutes so I just read them stories. It's hailing out there now 🌨 even though it was sunny earlier 🌞! This bonkers weather will never stop at this rate!
Now I'm home I've put a wash on as the laundry baskets are full again. It's payday today 🎉🎉🎉. So I want to buy £50 of premium bonds and renew our NT membership 🙂. The rest will be saved for bills. Apart from that I want to rest because my half days are a chance to recharge my batteries a bit.
I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. It's hard to believe that it's going to be March at the weekend, although the daffodils I brought back from my mum's garden are flowering beautifully

Pay day, yay. Best day of the month.
I was wondering if you still intended to buy Premium Bonds now the prize structure has gone down. Martin doesn't seem to think they are worth it but then nothing is these days with such paltry interest rates everywhere , even where money is tied up for ages which I know you don't want to do. I bought a lot with part of my lump sum when I retired (the rest sadly had to go to paying the F&Fs on my debts). I once held £30k's worth which was the maximum holding back then but I rarely won even £25 every few months. A combination of that and the fact that I was desperate to liquidate some money meant I cashed them all in several years ago. Decided on starting over with a block of PBs when I received my retirement lump sum as my employment pension (which can't be drawn down and is totally separate from the lump sum) is paid monthly regardless. I've also set up a DD to buy £1000 PBs a month from my pension but am thinking of stopping it. Have only won £50 in total since late 2018 and have about £32,000 in there now.
Are you now on the permanent TA staff or still covering? Are regular TA hours part-time or pretty much full time?
Try to enjoy your payday. I know you see what you bring in as essential to the household coffers but please try to reserve a little to do/buy something that you enjoy. You deserve it.
Sorry, meant to say that I read someone's moneysaving tip on one of the threads I hang out on that it's cheaper to buy NT membership through the Scottish NT. It still entitles you to use all the facilities of English NT places as well. Will see if I can find the post.9 -

Sorry, meant to say that I read someone's moneysaving tip on one of the threads I hang out on that it's cheaper to buy NT membership through the Scottish NT. It still entitles you to use all the facilities of English NT places as well. Will see if I can find the post.. My main reason for buying premium bonds is so that they don't get spent. Transferring money online from a savings account to a current account is only too easy. Having to actually sell premium bonds is a barrier that I think will stop DH and I from doing that. We don't really see the PBs as money and so we aren't tempted to spend them. So if we don't win then we don't win, but at least we'll still have our original money.
Thanks for the suggestion but I've aleady renewed our NT membership. I had a brainwave and saved us some money. We thought DS1's renewal would be £72 as he's no longer a young person. We offered to pay half as that would be double what he paid last year. But then I spotted that an additonal member at the same address is £48, so it only cost him (or rather us) an extra £12 🎉🎉🎉. I'm pleased I've renewed as we get really good use out of it and go to NT places a lot. It's free outings for a whole year and going there and seeing the old buildings and lovely gardens always makes me feel peaceful.
I also bought DH £50 worth of premium bonds so we have £300 worth each now 🎉🎉🎉. It's a little nest egg that can keep growing and which we won't sell unless we are really up against it. I try and forget that we have them. I really don't see them as money. It feels like an investment in our future and even if we dont' win I have hope that every month we could win. Hope is important in life.
I'm still temporary as far as the TA cover is concerned. TAs work the same hours as teachers do.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
