  • The car is fixed but DH feels exhausted now so he's going to the walk in clinic tomorrow morning instead.

I was wondering, HHOD, whether you know of anyone who has a car and is available to drive DS3 back. maybe one of your DS's friends or a relative who could do it. I know your Stepdad lives locally and has a car but it's a lot to ask of someone that age. I was just thinking if DH is so ill at the moment and exhausted he really shouldn't be attempting such an arduous journey. If he felt tired/ill en route there's be no one in the car with him to help out with the driving. If someone else could take DS3 back, which obviously would cost him the price of the fuel at the very least, it would be a happy solution for all of you. Just a thought.

I hope you are feeling a lot better now after 2 days at home:)

Hope you are ok HH. The dreaded lurgy is really lingering around you both and going back to work might not be the best thing at the minute, as much as you want to. Take it easy and take care.

I hope DH gets to the walk in. Maybe he needs a course of antibiotics just to help clear it. x

    I agree with Nicnak:T.

Feeling better and being able to do more round the house is nothing like being at work where you won't be able to take a break when you want and a sit down when you need to. Also, I'm not sure doing the first day of TA temp cover on Friday so soon after being so ill is a good idea at all:eek:. Added to that is the fact that you'll have a gruelling weekend ahead taking DS3 back. You've said before that it wears you out even when you're well. You won't want to be so exhausted by Monday that you'll be unable to go to work.

You might think people like me who keep going on about what you should and shouldn't do are just being interfering old biddies:o but it's only out of genuine concern for you. Take care xxx

    Thanks everyone :).

I didn't feel too bad this morning, apart from lack of sleep due to DH fidgeting and twitching all night . DH finally made it to the walk in clinic this morning. His chest, temperature, blood pressure, etc, are all fine :T. The doctor prescribed co-codamol for his aches and pains and painful hip and said the fluid on his leg will disappear.

I'm hoping the pain relief will help DH sleep better as I threatened to sleep on the sofa bed last night if he couldn't stop twitching and jerking his legs .

I did my lunchtime job and it was really nice to see the children again :). Also the office manager had a word with me and they want me to do TA cover for the equivalent of four days a week starting from Monday to cover unpaid leave :T :j :T :j :T (I'll also do a full day this Friday). She said would I be able to do it and would it be too much for me, but I said I want to do it because of getting great work experience :T (plus I need the money but I didn't say that to her :rotfl:).

I think if I can get a couple of good night's sleep then I'll be fine as I do feel better now, just tired due to DH keeping me awake . It will be great to have the extra money as that will mean more money to pay the bills :T. Also I won't have to do playground duty the office manager said, so I'll get morning break which will make a big difference to how tired I get.

I may have to do my assignments at the weekends but it can be done. I'm actually only doing an extra three sessions in addition to my normal volunteering and lunchtime job, so I think it's doable if I rest at home. I'll ask the DC to help me more and then I can relax more at home. I'm very pleased :D.

As far as getting DS3 back to uni we're going to wait and see how DH feels on Friday and make a decision then.

Hi HHD :) That's really good news about the TA cover. :j And I think working what will be pretty much full time is a good reason for asking the DC's to help out a bit more - just in case they need a reason, which you never know they might not ;)

Does DH have restless leg syndrome because leg twitching and pain at night is a common sign. Although I'm not sure there's anything that can be done for it tbh.

Make sure you get plenty of rest over the next few days. I think I've recently read you wouldn't put a job rota up in your house but maybe if you made one for yourself just so you know which little jobs you could ask the DC's to do to help you out. xx

Good news all round then HHOD:T:T:T. Great for you getting the paid cover. Can you give the volunteering a miss for a few days now you're on the staff?

I'm glad DH's illness was nothing serious:j but equally surprised that the Doc only prescribed co-codomol. They aren't particularly heavy-duty, they're available over the counter without prescription at chemist shops (although not just freely on the self-service shelves). I use them all the time for headaches. For general physical aches and pains DH swears by Ibuprofen. If DH has to pay for his prescriptions he could get them for about £3.99 at some chemists. That's the soluble ones that I use, the ordinary ones that you just swallow are much, much cheaper. They're the pack of 32 though, maybe the Doc prescribed a bigger pack for the exorbitant cost of prescriptions these days. They give dire warnings about them being habit forming though and shouldn't be taken for more than 3 days. they also can cause drowsiness (something DH needs to think about if driving)
