I think card giving is still done by our age group & the generation above our but much less with the generaions below ours.
    Sad in a way.

  • I can understand people who stop giving cards, although there is something nice about receiving them. DS3 reckons his generation dont' bother with Christmas cards so the whole tradition may die out one day.

I agree, HHOD, it is nice to receive cards:j. Sometimes a card at Christmas is the only contact I have with people from the past and I always hope they aren't still sending them after so many years of having no other form of contact just because of habit. Many of them write a short letter to include with the card giving a potted account of their last year. If not an actual letter at least they fill the blank inside part of the card with their news. I always feel they must lead such exciting lives, I'm pretty stumped sometimes about what I can write in my card to them that would be remotely interesting:o.

I agree with your DS about card sending being a generation thing although I tend to think it's more the young men and boys who are sending less. Whenever I'm in card shops I often see teenage girls and young women buying them. I suppose young people send something more tech-based. Not sure what my grown-up children do, at least they still send 'real' cards to DH and I and our older relatives but maybe they don't send them to their contemporaries. Sad if so:(

Glad you're feeling a bit better today:T. I hope tomorrow isn't too tiring for you.

I'm a bit of a skim-reader and although I replied to your post I genuinely never spotted the spelling mistakes. I bet most other people didn't either.
  • Hope you're feeling a bit better this evening, and even better tomorrow.

I always forget people and got to the point that I carried them round with me, and pretended to 'find' them in my handbag ten mins later.

I also always have spare presents as I forget people as well!

I love writing out, sending and receiving cards. Sadly my card list gets shorter every year. I remember years ago having strings of them all around the house. I think it's a sad sign of the times.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I hope you felt better today, HHOD, and that your day went well:j

I've been a very sporadic visitor to your diary recently, dratted RL issues got in the way:( but I recall you mentioning a while ago being invited to your school staff meal. Has it already taken place? If so, I hope you had a lovely time:). If you still have it to look forward to, enjoy:beer:
