  • Thanks beanie :).

Well the berry lights are up in the living room and look lovely. Every year one bulb has gone, this time it was the sixth one I tested  but I got there in the end :D.

I've done 13,020 steps already today :j. My Fitbit told me I was an over achiever :rotfl:. I knew I'd been up and down that ladder a lot of times!

I did over 10,000 steps yesterday and the day before too, hopefully it'll help me to shift the weight I put on over the autumn :).

I'm going to relax now and put my feet up as it's DH's turn to cook :).

Tomorrow DH is going to assemble the tree and put the lights on it and I'll decorate it. The DC are too lazy to help . I also need to do lots of housework tomorrow as the place is a tip.

I got a lovely wreath from Homesense for £8. Sounds like you've had a busy and productive day day. Well done with the bargains and decorations.

That sounds like a bargain SA. Are all your decorations up ?

Hi Hairy. Just catching up on your diary. Quite an eventful week!

Can only echo other posters on your son’s trip - you’re right you never stop worrying about your children but he seems to have gone into things thoroughly though must be on his toes re any business deal. I went to New Orleans for a couple of days a few years ago - stayed in the French Quarter which is the touristy bit I’m assuming he is staying. It’s lively but I didn’t feel unsafe in the French Quarter There is a bit of a police presence there too which is reassuring.

  • That's good to know SSG. It is a bit worrying but it will be a great adventure for him. We gathered that the French Quarter is the safest place, so yes that is where he's staying.

We're going to give him lots of advice and DH's sister has been to America lots of times (she even lived there for a while), so I know she will give him lots of advice too.

But I will be relieved to have him home again :o.

  • Today is going to be a busy day putting up the rest of the Christmas decorations :xmastree:.

I've decorated and put lights on the mini tree which is now installed in the kitchen. DH is cleaning the skirting boards and wants to glue some peeling wallpaper behind where the big tree is to go. Then he can assemble the big tree and put lights on it. Our big tree was a Mr T bargain from a few years ago, it was £15 and we bought it with our vouchers so essentially it was free :money:.

After that the decorations will be done and I can concentrate on housework. I feel quite tired today so I'm not going to overdo it. I did over15,000 steps yesterday :j.

  • It seems like ages to me since we became debt free. But since then we've been to London to visit BIL with cancer, been to a wedding in the Midlands, helped DS2 sort out his America trip, helped DS3 do his UCAS form and started the Christmas prep .

This is in addition to all the things we normally do like work and houswork, no wonder we feel tired :o.

It'll be a miracle if the big tree goes up today because DH has spent all afternoon cleaning off mould, painting the skirting board and fixing peeling wallpaper behind the armchair :rotfl:.

We've decided to put the tree somewhere else now :rotfl:. It does look nice and it's good to get rid of the mould, as long as he does the bits people can see too. And I want the big tree to go up as well!

I had to have a nap for an hour earlier I was so tired :( but I feel better now. The decorations look lovely and now over the next few weekends I can focus on present buying and wrapping, writing and posting cards and vouchers, and buying Christmas food :xmassmile (once the big tree is up ).

I've bought a few bits of food already with my Mr T vouchers. I've got some half price Matchmakers and chocolate santas for DH and the DC, and some bogof mince pies. I'd like to get a bottle of Prosecco for Christmas eve and some mini alcohol gift bottles to give as presents, so I'll tske care of those when I do my big food shop :rudolf:.
