I think you can take it a compliment to your Mum Hairy. The fact that they were so happy together and complimented each other, means that he isn't scared of sharing his life again. Love takes different forms and friendship with companionship is one of them. Don't doubt that they loved your Mum. and still do. The heart is big enough for all kinds of love. (((hugs)))

  • My family visited Scotland several times when we lived in Bolton - not so far to go !! Wonderful beaches and loads of farm animals for me to enjoy !

Small hiatus coming up in me reading and posting.
I've had my pre-op assessment for a new hip (thanks to a cancellation).
I waited 3 silent weeks and then phoned them.
    No, I wasn't booked in.
Estimated time = October (by which time I would need another pre-op as they're only valid for 3 months).
I 'remonstrated' (!!) and they directed me on to the surgeon's co-ordinator. He suggested 6th September, still ages away but an improvement.

Tuesday afternoon I got a call - would I like to come in this Friday ? Reeling from the shock of course I agreed. Not even time for the full 5 days of antibiotic cleansing, bedding changes etc. Apparently my graphic representation of my condition meant I was first on the waiting list for a cancellation!! Just shows that persistence works, although really it shouldn't be necessary.

According to others there seems to be a policy of wasting orthopaedic patients' time with futile treatments, thereby letting them become completely crippled before anything is actually done.
I can't see that this policy benefits anyone:mad:
Still, I'll be partially bionic tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest of your Scottish break, HH. I think you really needed it xx

  • Until recently I thought I would be the widow one day, until my possible cancer bombshell recently. Just to let you know just had the results from the op and it’s benign so am very relieved. It does make you realise that life is too short and you need to enjoy every minute. .

That is wonderful news, I'm so happy for you.

That must have been a shock. It's good you are with your sister. I don't think sending a card is hypocritical, you are wishing them happiness, even if you are not happy with the situation. That's a kind thing to do.

    Thank you Jwil :).

Oh bit of a shock for you Hairy. I can understand him in a way. Men seem to not do well on their own and need the companionship. It doesn’t make it any easier for you and the family though. My children would be the same if I remarried. A friend and I were talking once about being on our own and she said if she was one day she would miss having someone to do nothing with. Until recently I thought I would be the widow one day, until my possible cancer bombshell recently. Just to let you know just had the results from the op and it’s benign so am very relieved. It does make you realise that life is too short and you need to enjoy every minute. Maybe he feels like that as I imagine he is in his 80’s? She will never replace your mum, but I think you are doing the right thing being civil.

Enjoy the rest of the time with your sister. Have never been to Scotland but it is on my list.

    Thank you Arsenal :).

Fantastic news about your op results, I'm really pleased :T:T:T.
