Halifax Easycash Account

Hi everyone
Since going into DMP in 2015 I've had an Easycash account with Halifax. As such, I have a Visa Electron card.
I'm now out of DMP and was wondering if it was possible too have an account without an overdraft (I don't want one anyway) which will issue me with a 'standard' Visa debit card.
I'm asking as I find that many vendors/online organisations which won't take Visa Electron.
I've learned to manage my money better and am constantly in the black now.

One way to find out. Walk into your local Halifax branch and ask if they could upgrade the account.

Most basic bank accounts now have a Visa Debt Card as standard, very few still use electron.
There is no credit check and no borrowing facility with basic accounts (as you are most likely aware).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Have you looked at a Monzo card? It's a pre-paid master card and really nifty app to manage transfers and spending. They are currently rolling out Current Accounts in preview but eventually will be open for all.0

Nationwide's basic flex account uses Visa debit. Methinks Halifax are just being dinosaurs and not moving forward with the times.... and the needs of their customers. As Sourcrates says, very few banks use Electron now - even for their basic accounts.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0

Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
Yes, I recently upgraded my Halifax Easycash account online. I tried a couple of times and they would,'t accept me until my default had gone from my credit file so I even though you have completed your DMP, check that the defaults have gone.
