oh I didn't know

interesting as I used nyloc nuts on my exhuast mounts which get the same abuse and doing 1000s of mile it never came off

I knew the nyloc act as self tightening and fastener but ignored it due to emergency and never changed it

so i guess when nyloc burns and the nut loose its tightening torque

And destroying cat convertor

I am just not sure whether to hollow out and weld that lid back or replace the pipe

Thenpipe is 45 degreeiah angle which i can get from ebay and then weld another straight pipe

For now i want it back together so i think inwill stick with gutting cat and welding the lid back

I gave up hammering and drilling it so start burning it while having a tea and smile:)

Do you have any idea how toxic that smoke will be? That's just irresponsible, and I'm the last person to worry about health and safety or the planet.

Mostly soot, flammable deposits from the combustion process and certain of the metals used in the catalytic core. With enough heat to start it it'll burn quite well for a while, but the emissions are hideously toxic if breathed.
