Sports Direct On line delivery to stores charges

If you order goods on line from Sports Direct they charge the same to deliver to one of their stores for collection and delivering by post. Most companies offer free delivery to stores to collect so why not Sport Direct

Because it is a no frills company who give the bare minimum (legal, for the most part) to consumers. The only real issue is that consumers are so used to companies going above and beyond (like your scenario) that it looks rather alien to them.

I do like Sports Direct's model to be honest. Its just a bit typical of Mike Ashley though, a tad out of touch with everyday people. That's why you've posted on here, because it doesn't *seem* right but in actual fact it 100% is! Effectively, if the pricing is clearly displayed and you agree to pay it then there's not much of an issue...

Because they don't have to. Just like people that don't like this practise don't have to order with Sports Direct and are free to choose a retailer that offers free to store delivery.

If you have a delivery to store they do give you a £5 gift voucher when you collect, okay it has to be spent with them but they last for two years and it's better than nothing. I usually use the vouchers for either work socks for OH or towards the 2 for £6 they do on balls to get giant tennis balls for the dog.

I don't mind because the value for money is good, as yet I have never had a problem with them. Although they do come up on here every now and again it shouldn't come as a surprise considering they serve millions of customers every year. And lets be honest what retailer doesn't appear here.

As powerful_Rogue has already pointed out, they can set whatever delivery terms and prices they want to and if you don't like them, you have the option to shop elsewhere.

I like the 'collect from store' option as I can pick an order up at a time that is convenient to me rather than waiting in for a parcel (she says with the prospect of waiting in all day for a parcel from Amazon :().

Debenhams charge £2.00 for 'click & collect' for orders under £20.

You might as well ask 'why do some stores allow you to return items if you've changed your mind and some won't?'.

I don't like the charge, but to be fair it's well sign-posted unlike some companies charges.
  • Not all companies do free click and collect. Many have spend threshokds, John Lewis, boots, as mentioned Debenhams, so I disagree that 'most' so. Many, yes. Most, probably not.

Plus all these companies have better policies than sports direct so I certainly wouldn't expect them to go above and beyond, which free click and collect is.
