Just thought I would let people know that asda (certainly my local asda) are selling some really smart glass jars at the moment.
They are glass, circular (flat base) with a silver plastic screw lid.

Not sure on the size of them  About 15 cms high? 10 cms wide?
    They cost £2
Look much more expeinsive that that and perfect for the journal in a jar or similar ..... mines being used for "365 useless bits of information" for my dad!
Ah the joys of being a student!

ETA - as I'm new I can't post links or photos :( so sorry, hopefully someone else will have spotted them and be able too!
  • Some of my friends are a little obsessed with facts about different dates and I think it would be good to do them a jar of 365, not sure how to do it though, it might be good to have one for each day of the year in which case randomly putting them into a jar would make it difficult, unless I could colour coordinate them in some way with all of one colour for each month... Hmm, any ideas?

  • This thread is brilliant!

I have got some ideas from here for Christmas. I am doing a "x reasons why I love you" for my husband as it's our first christmas since we got married. I am doing a jar of interesting facts for either my brother or my dad. I am going to do a jar of christian/bible facts for my dad and a christian survival kit for him. I am also going to make a flannel reindeer for some people and there was something else but I cannot remember what.

Looks like I'm going to be busy, busy busy!

I have just convinced my husband to make the spare bedroom in a workspace/craft room for me. :T

lol I'll definitely have to put that in his jar. What a brilliant idea!

Well we live in a sort of 3 bed house but we don't have any children (yet!) so the rooms are free for our use. The spare room a the moment is a dumping ground but I'm going to be putting it to good use!

Yes I'm going to be really busy - I'm really excited actually.

    Hiya

Have read first 17 pages and last 3 pages, and there are some great ideas here, thank you!!

I've convinced a sweetie selling company on Ebay to let me have 4 3ltr jars for free, as I've bought enough sweets to fill 3 of them for 'retro sweetie jar' as presents for my siblings.

I'm going to cut slots in the lid so that they can use them as money jars when they've eaten all the sweets!!

My mum wants me to make her a money box jar too, but I can't decide what to fill it with!!

I like the cake mixture ideas, but the jar is too big
Mum wouldn't write in a journal, so no point in journal idea.

Mum likes making things but doesn't like sewing so stuck for ideas there.

She's not good a budgeting and saw I somebody had made like a money journal with a calculator in a jar. I like this idea - is it a bit cruddy to remind somebody they are skint on xmas or is it just a useful present? Also, where can I get a money journal from?!

Any other ideas?! Less than 4 weeks... HELP!!!!!!!!
