Hi all!
Was just catching up with www.organizedchristmas.com and today they are talking about gifts in a jar, thought it might give a few people some more ideas/inspiration as it's a fab site

bunbun the box looks lovely! :T You are reminding me I still ideally want to do some more journal in jars... I'm using decorated nescafe jars mainly so not too expensive.
I would quite like to give my mum a journal with plain pages in (could be coloured but not sickly sweet) -does anyone know where I can get one at the moment at a decent price? They all seem to be lined? I hate lines... having to fit in such tight rules... oh sorry we were talking about writing...:rotfl:

rusty I used the 1 litre kilner jar (87p from Tesco) when i tried my recipe. It was a bit too big for the recipe I used so next time I will either double the quatities or put some marshmallows on the top as they take up quite a bit of room.
Sorry not much help as mine didn't work first time:rotfl:
Well, got 2 1-litre Kilner jars from Tesco and they were £1.25 each! It seems my Tesco is more expensive
Anyway, now I need to find some nice muffin recipe to go with it and might even do a practice run this weekend to see how it goes. I am going to make a baking hamper - got some silicon muffin forms in shape of heart, a whisk. Still want to get a mixing bowl and a bottle of wine. So, all that and muffins-in-jar will be the gift!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Hiya
I've found that the Douwe Egbert (sp?) coffee jars are a really nice shape, and have a 'stopper' type lid.
It's a bit more expensive than other brands, but I've picked up a few on special offer a couple of times.
And, if you have a coffee club at work, maybe you could try to persuade them to buy DW coffee...
And - thanks to all of you - I have so many idea on how to use these lovely jars :T
(I just need to get my @ss in gear and get them done!)

I made a gift in a jar for my friends and really personalised it. I folded up photos of us together and wrote a memory on the back of them. I also added some of their favourite song lyrics or quotes. I put some lovely sweets and some small bath bombs or bath salts. They seemed to like it plus it was quite cheap to make as I wasnt very flush that year!:p0

I made my first jar with Christmas muffins from Good Food magazine - looks good, but I have 'adapted' it a bit! I also made apple and cranberry chutney over the weekend, as well as fruity biscottis and arancello! I've gone mad!
So mad, that yesterday afternoon I had to go to Lakeland in Windermere (1 hour drive!!!) to get some more jars and bottles for all my goodies. It is like Aladin's cave there!!!! Got some really pretty jars (sort of kilner, but with ceramic top - looks very pretty) and some small jam jars (227g) and some bottles with the stopers... Now, I just need to decide what other chutneys, pickles and jams to make!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

I used the journal prompts on this site to help me come up with the ones for my jars... http://organizedchristmas.com/printable/adult-journal-jar
I'm going to do more survival kits next year as I think they are such a great idea:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
