thanks for the comments about my jar:D i can't believe how long it took to cut and fold the pieces of paper:rotfl: to make the label I put the jar flat, drew round the circle edge and cut it out.

I have spent the morning typing out questions for my ds journal. Just printed them so will cut them up then have to look for something to put them in!

The cutting bit is hard work isn't it and then there's all the folding :rotfl: Worth it though cos it makes a great pressie ;)

I'm doing a journal jar for the young lad we look after. I've got a notebook (tescos cheapie) and want to cover it. Do I just cover the front and back on the outside or do I fold it over on the inside cover (hope that makes sense)?

Mary it depends what you are trying to cover. I bought some £1 square notebooks from Asda - one I had a square pretty paper sheet that I just glued on the outside that was the right size. One I stuck a photo on to and then the person name and journal underneath and that filled the space. I'm doing a third Project one (also Asda) the one with all the letters on it - and I'm personalising it - so I had a cut out word "memories" which I stuck on in the bottom right corner - and then recently someone had moved house so I'd got some stickers to do with moving home so I've put a "Welcome" mat sticker on above the memories word. It really depends what you are covering up and covering with to whether you paste it inside or not. The Works (which I know you don't have) sell holographic clingfilm sticker stuff for £1....

    Hope that's of some use..

Thanks. The paper I've got -well two sorts really - some wrapping paper but it's a bit 'pretty' for a boy, and some scrapbook paper.........some I'm using for a door hanger so that might be a bit thick,I'll have to have another look at it I think. Don't want to go overboard on decorations -he wouldn't want that.
Also want to do one for grandaughter (plenty of pretty paper for that) and for grandson -really so they've got one each and want that to be a sort of 'thoughts' book if you know what I mean.

If I use thinner paper I'll do the inside I think, bit like we used to have to do at school (every excercise book had to be covered .............lol)
Thicker sort, just one side. Just got to decide which now............

  • Maytaurus I looked at the first link and they do a retro set £14.99 I looked at the contents and I could buy everything on their list from my local asda, well apart from the chocky ciggys which are 25p in local shop. but I reckon I could buy everything for no more than £5 lol
