  • Hi, all.

Was too tired to function when I got in from work yesterday. It's the all important Open Evening and [strike]rare opportunity for good PR[/strike] Presentation Evening this week, so I've been stopped from doing all the important things I had to do and told to do other things to make the place look [strike]as though it isn't largely held together with gaffer tape and strategically wedged equipment[/strike] pretty. And I was chilled to the bone by a sharp downpour as I was moving stuff from one part of the site to another, so never warmed up again all day. It's not as if the heating works, after all, even if they do deign to switch it on - one radiator on each floor works and despite reporting it every few weeks without fail and every couple of days over the winter, nobody ever does anything about it. Cold is the normal state of affairs for the department, and we just have to put up with it (studiously ignoring all the SLT missives about not allowing students to wear their coats and staff doing the same in order to set a good example - yeah, right. Because getting frozen is such a good thing to teach them. But I was the person who set up the sound in the big, cold church service whilst wearing fingerless gloves and a woolly hat last winter because there was no way I was prancing about on a solid flagstone floor in just a pair of trousers and a blouse, having frozen my butt off waiting outside the church for the person with the key to get off their backside and open up 45 minutes after they were supposed to be there ).

Today, Himself forgot to mention he was out at rehearsal, so missed the man coming to fix the dodgy front door locking mechanism. Sweet talked them into rebooking without charging me for the visit.

Got back and got a message asking if I was going to meet him in the pub. For once, I said it was too cold and I was too tired.

So stuck the remains of Sunday Dinner into a pan and started boiling it up for stock, thinking he'd be back about 2 hours ago.

He's still not back now. Heaven help him if he falls in the door.

Errrrrrr....yet another day seems to have passed with minimal flying. BUT I did get to have lunch with my best friend, who I haven't seen for nearly a year. We had a lovely time and swapped Christmas presents - last year's! And we worked out that we first met 35 years ago this week. Scary stuff.

Weather typically has been lovely today, so of course the washing was hung up inside all day. Duh!
I made some pickled runners ( they have to go somewhere!), have cleared up the kitchen, and changed our bed for tomorrow morning's washing. I think that is about it....pathetic, must do better. But lunch and the constant nattering was lovely so not feeling too guilty. Well I am, but I'll get over it!

    ETA....Valli...you couldn't make it up!

    Evening all...

I'm pretty sure the reason I don't get much flying done is because I'm surrounded by [STRIKE]idiots[/STRIKE] people who need constant [STRIKE]instruction[/STRIKE] guidance.

Honestly, I've done nothing much today except faff about sorting out workable solutions for problems and queries presented to me one after the other by builders, electricians, bricklayers, carpenters and plasterers. Pfftt. Men. Useless!

To top it all, DH organised a delivery of 22 tonnes of tree trunks (yes, WHOLE trees ) as our fuel for the woodburner for the next thousand years. I had to direct the most enormous lorry back down our drive into the paddock, avoiding the overhead power cable for the chicken house, as he was late leaving work. I'd just got back in from the vets as BoyPup has another ear infection and Tiny had wet himself in their reception, then promptly removed his wet trousers and pants. That boy has no shame!

Been to Tesco to get food for packed lunches tomorrow and got back to discover no washing up had been done, no pets fed and DH slobbing on the sofa in front of football. Not impressed.
  • Annnd...he's in the house. Having brought me a manky cheeseburger from the kebab shop. No salad, just the 'meat' and goop in a bun. In a squeaky polystyrene box. I'm not convinced that the fact the box was beginning to melt but the offering inside was kind of body temperature makes me feel any more confident about its safety.

So have decluttered grilled meat of dubious origin and luminous yellow goop into the cats and the rest straight into the bin.

He's about to sit down and explain what happened. This should be good.

    Lol Valli :D

I'm waking up early this week. Dunno why. Today's jobs include putting spare laundry baskets up for sale, poss along with some other bits. My DR is a bit of a dumping ground for stuff for sale which I'd like to exit and very soon!

Will also clean downstairs loo, sweep up after furries - and chuck them out again - supposed to be warm here today... May even run the vac around. And make some soup!

Back to college Tonight so looking forward to that.

  • Yesterday didn't quite go as planned as cat had brought mouse in and then lost it somewhere upstairs. Cat was then worrying one of the wardrobes so I emptied that, no mouse but I did have a good sort through all the shoes etc that were in the bottom, only shoes that fit have been put back in and I have a couple of bags of stuff to throw out!

Working again this afternoon then taking sofa up to DD1 for her new appartment. So plan for this morning is to tackle our bedroom, take the cover off the sofa so it can go back on clean once we get there. Looks doable written down.
  • Morning All

    Valli that made me laugh!

Feel rough this morning. Got yet another cold and all bunged up. Oh well, the show must go on so straight off to paid stuff after school and pre-school runs. After work I really must:

    - go to SM (never got there yesterday, had to water milk down this morning :o)
    - Buy kindling (got any I could borrow Dizzy :rotfl:)
    - Sort recycling

    Have good days all x

  • When it's tidy it doesn't take that long to clean!

Our bedroom is fairly tidy after having challenged a friend 18 months ago to a major bedroom sort, we took photos before, during and after and emailed our progress along the way. I made sure everything had a place and since then it has remained reasonable, just requiring a quick half hour burst from time to time to get it back into shape. Well today I reaped the benefits. Having showered, changed the sheets, tidied round, done the ironing and put away I came down and realised that level 1 was already done so I had breakfast and went back up and am pleased to say that I have done all 3 levels for the bedroom and then as the cordless vac was still going strong I vacuumed the landing, stairs, through the living room, kitchen and playroom, ok only the main areas but every little helps.

And all done in 2 hours so feeling quite good. Now enjoying coffee and will then check banking and sort my stuff out for work this afternoon.

Seeing everything I've done written down is quite motivating, I find long long to do lists can be a bit discouraging, I am not very good at 'eating the elephant one bite at a time'.

    Have a good day everyone.
