Almost forgot one more update - have started the Avon and am going out this afternoon to collect the books I dropped off last Friday. Your most powerful 'Let Scarlett get loads of lovely big Avon orders in' vibes would be much appreciated

Mum and Dad are back off holiday at the weekend and they're bringing a supply for us, but we did actually discuss last night both of giving up once that lot are gone. I *know* it would save a fortune, not to mention the health benefits, but the thought of it........ _pale_
Best of luck! Don't forget to contact your GP, as they can point you in the direction of lots of NHS support.0 -
Hey Scarlett, my mum's just started Avon and made £30 on the first order - we only had 10 customers (she's being lazy about putting books out, lol) so it's definitely very do-able. Especially so close to CrimboNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Hi Scarlett,
Just been reading your post - well done you! You have achieved so much already.
Just wanted to say I have started Avon, now on my 3rd Campaign and just through family and friends I have managed to make a good £30+ each time so it is worth it for that bit of work.
Good luck xx0 -

Hi Floss
Well, I haven't done the life insurance yet, still waiting for my new bank details to come through from Nat West (grrrrr, blooming post) so I won't update it until I actually do it
I've also got the house (contents and buildings) insurance and gas & electric to change too, so that should bring some more lovelt cash-back!
Maz - I think "greedy" is the word here
I admit, I was even tempted to sell my ticket for the concert we're going to next month, but I don't think my friend would ever forgive me for making her go on her own :rotfl:
Quick Avon update - I handed out 25 books and only got 12 back  Going to try tomorrow morning for the rest, but from those 12 I did get 3 orders. Every little helps and all that eh?! Have had 3 orders from friends so far and I'm not finished [STRIKE]bugging [/STRIKE]asking them all yet.
Ebay is also going marvellously - people seem to snapping up my [STRIKE]tat[/STRIKE] top quality goods really well
Onwards and upwards as they say :TYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

Well, I haven't updated this thread for a while, so I thought it was high time I did

Things are still going okay-ish. I have our new bank accounts open now and have started changing stuff; gas/electric, life insurance, house insurance, pet insurance.
Who's Lending weren't able to help us unfortunately
due to the negative equity in the house, which I admit, was a big blow. The (jolly nice) chap who called me said the only thing I could try to do was ask First Plus to turn the secured debt into unsecured so it could form part of an IVA, which is still the route we'd really like to take, but can't quite afford it right now. So, have written to First Plus today, but am not holding my breath
Ebaying is still going REALLY well and the Avon is going quite well too, so there's a bit more cash coming in
We've decided we have GOT to give up smoking  and I admit, I'm pretty terrified at the thought. But, it's got to be done, we spend probably £70 a week on smoking and for people in as much debt as us and with such a deficit in our incomings and outgoings, well, we have no right really
Worst part is, that wasn't even included in the SOA, we just seem to always, somehow "find the money" for cigs. So...... <big deep breath> as of tomorrow morning, that's it - no more smoking for us. We have <glances in packet> 6 cigs left and we're going to finish those between us before we go to bed and tomorrow is the start. Any words of help/support/encouragement would be massively appreciated if anyone's got any going
So.... what else? Er..... oh yes, we have applied (well, sent for the forms anyway) for DLA for H and if we were entitled to that it would be a huge help. So, another waiting game there.
I think that's about it from me for now,

Evening all

Bit of an update - First Plus rang us today and basically there's absolutely nothing they can do about the secured loan, there is no way they're going to turn it into unsecured. The lady I spoke to more or less said that they would take their chances regarding the chances of us losing the house and they not getting their money.
I've had a thought today though, that IF we can do this, might just well turn everything around and I was hoping I could get some advice from you clever lot.......
We have a "Together" mortgage with Northern Rock and just under £20k of that is unsecured (we pay 2 payments in one for the secured and unsecured parts). Now, my question is this - could we, in theory, include the unsecured part of it in an IVA? If we could then we could do the IVA - at the moment we can't afford it, but we could if we could do this (reason being the mortgage breaks down as £410 secured and £125 unsecured).
Sorry for all the waffle above, I almost posted the question on the mortgage board, but I thought here was more appropriate
Many thanks, as always,
