Scammed flights

Hi can anybody help... I can't cry anymore tears! we paid for 5 flights on a credit card and it was a scam (the travel company cancelled the flights and didn't tell us) and we try to claim the money back can the credit card company off to only pay the card holders flight or not? 5 flights were bought under one transaction, thank you to anybody that helps

  • They may process it as a chargeback, rather than Section 75, if they're able to do so, which would avoid the issue.

Name and shame who you bought from to help prevent others making the same mistake.

But yes, try a chargeback first. I don't know if there's an argument that all your flights were for the cardholder's benefit (as it was a family holiday, for example)... Someone may be along with better advice soon!
  • Thank you so much for your comments so far. My dad told them he bought the flights for us all but they don't seem bothered 😢
  • Can we not fight that?
  • Ring up the bank and ask for a chargeback.

    Don't mention Section 75.
  • If they have already processed it under section 75 can we still ask for a chargeback?
  • The travel company we booked flights with was dream world travel, I hope nobody has to go through what we are going through

    You can always ask.
  • I certainly will, thank you so much for your help

How long ago was the booking? (if it was in the last few days this may be a cc hold that will drop off and the funds will be returned)
Often these third parties do not have live pricing and on their site you are requesting them to book on your behalf (rather than making a live booking) when the bargain price they advertise is not available they often come back and ask for more money or if they do not pay for the tickets within the set time within the rules the airline system will automatically cancel the flights
Flights tend to be best booked direct with the airline or at least a reputable agent
