Which credit card companies have the best customer service

Hi
I have been a longtime Barclaycard customer, and have stuck with them as I liked the layout of their website and statements. However, after a truly awful experience with them in which I had no choice but to phone their call centres repeatedly whilst they failed to resolve an ongoing issue I feel like its time for a change. Which credit card companies do other MSE-ers recommend, both in terms of internet banking and call centre customer service? I pay my balance in full each month so I'm more concerned with good customer service rather than good interest rates.

I too have loved Barclaycard's online banking however recent issues with regards to appalling customer service and misallocation of payments has frustrated me beyond belief.
If you pay in month then perhaps Sainsbury's Bank or American Express would be the best bet if you are looking for good customer service. They are in the UK and I find them far better than MBNA, Clydesdale and Capital One. However, Sainsbury's Bank has an incredibly outdated internet banking system and it is ancient compared to that of Barclaycard.0 -
Different people will have different experiences along with different expectations.
For me, they are all much of a muchness - friendly, polite & helpful.
It's very much horses for courses and what may frustrate you, may not me and vice versa.
I have no horror stories of who to avoid so would go with user friendly internet banking platform/app as there's a rare reason to ring for any customer service then - self service is fine for me. I personally like the Lloyds/Halifax or Nationwide internet platform & app.

I don't know if they do credit cards, but my mortgage is with Virgin Money and they're one of the best customer services people I've dealt with in many years. Don't know if that's any help ?
Avoid the Post Office - their financial products are actually supplied by Bank Of Ireland, and they are truly awful. I wouldn't use them again even if they offered me free money :mad:0 -

Weybridge it sounds like your experience was much like mine; I was very happy with Barclaycard given how good their online banking is until a situation arose in which I had no choice but to speak to them! It was so gut wrenchingly awful that I'm really keen to change providers now. Ebe, thanks for the tip, it seems Virgin Money do indeed do credit cards so they're definitely one for the shortlist!0

I have a few credit cards and happy with them all. Nationwide Select is good for purchases in foreign currency and cashback, Halifax Clarity is good for foreign currency puchases and cash withdrawals aboard and Virgin Atlantic MBNA card.
On the few occasions I have contacted them, they've all been fine. For online, I like the Virgin Atlantic MBNA card best for for its almost real time updates, the Nationwide has good web site but Halifax generally has poor online prescence.0 -
MBNA have been fantastic every time I've rang them (I rang earlier this week and had a chat with the guy about my upcoming holiday - even though it was not the point of my call at all).
Their online services are great and easy to use too.
They also historically give quite generous limits!0 -
Thanks so much for the responses everyone; I've done the eligibility check as suggested and there's lots of options: MBNA, AA, Virgin Money, Sainsburys, Santander, Tesco, Amex, BA Amex, Lloyds, Virgin Atlantic... I'm liking the idea of Virgin Atlantic's almost realtime updates @newatc; I do tend to do the vast majority of my banking online. Following my Barclaycard experience I just want it to be slightly less painful when I actually have no choice but to ring the call centre...0

Virgin Atlantic is MBNA, so don't choose that if the benefits don't work for you - you will get the same service from any other MBNA card.0
