Hi Bart Girl
Glad to see that you are still making positive progress. And phew about the colossopy (sp?). I am sure the results will be fine.
And I also envy you your trip off with a girl friend too. Haven't done that in ages with mine.
Ref the special present. Erm other than a pamper day at one of these spa places I can't think of anything. Sorry I am useless at presents for adults....

On Friday went to Central London and spent £50 on clothing for me-me-me and 2 gorgeous cushions for the house too.. I had such a good time and for some strange reason feel exhilarated!! Guess it was cos had ‘quality time’ with my best-mate ever and hadn’t done this for many many years. :j
But am thinking also about all this credit-crunching business and shall start to consciously watch my pennies properly. i am feeling a little bit miffed that I’ve gradually become ‘financially savvy’ around the time of this ‘credit crunching business’ but at the same time I say a silent prayer because it also means that since I’ve gotten rid of the bulk of my debt – I am in a better position to put something aside as and when necessary. This would have been unheardof just a year ago..
I shall start to meal-plan properly from this week. I am keen to ‘stretch’ the meals as well now – a la ‘rubber chicken’.. I stretched the pasta I made for lunch yesterday; DS and I had it for lunch and shall be having it again for lunch today! (with lidl spaghetti!). Today we’ll be having a stew with peppers (from lidl!) and shall be washed down with a baguette. I think I need to trawl thru the cupboards and fridge again – possibly need to add a few more tins of something or other but I shant be spending an arm and a leg…CC1: [strike]1,500[/strike] CC2:[strike]£830[/strike] Vanquis [strike]£1500[/strike] £2000 left

Hi Bartgirl,
Like you I'm trying to cut down on groceries, I found the 50p meal thread recently on OS so have been to include some of the recipes in my meal planning - worth a look maybe?

Been trying my best to have ‘low spend days’ as opposed to ‘no spend days’..which is supposed to help me get to the point of achieving no spend days!
Yesterday I spent £1.20 on milk; and on monday: 70p on a baguette and tin of chick peas. I am keen to start doing a weekly recipe thingy so that I know where I am. Yesterday I made a lovely salmon and rice dish from this site – using one odd piece of salmon I had left in the freezer which fed us all – and me for lunch to day as well!! Tonight we’re having chicken soup with said chickpeas and shall buy another baguette. Have been naughty today at work and bought a £1.50 hot chocolate! However – that’s all I’ve spent food-wise since 6 Oct..
Tomorrow'll be expensive though cos the car's going to see his Dr for a yearly check-up tomorrow which'll set me back £100 but i've budgeted for that anyway.
I did a mystery shop yesterday which should earn me £7. Every little bit counts they say! I am also owed £2 by the Provident lady – since the summer  ..still not bothered to pay me yet – and I don’t owe them a penny now! I have left umpteen messages on her phone but hasn’t had the courtesy to get back to me.. I shall now endeavour to contact her office directly and make a verbal complaint..the way I see it is that its MY hard-earned £2 and I want it back!!!

lol good for you on the £2 stick to your guns.
You amaze me with your ability to food shop so well and cook some lovely meals. I would love to know what the salmon rice recipe was?
You have really achieved so much with the change in your budgeting its really interesting to read.
Take care
