I started off the weekend in an MSE way but so far I'm failing miserably to continue it on..

I went to the supermarket (didnt use car; walked) and spent £6 on bread, cereal, milk, a bag of fish fillets and yoghurt for the week. Then a tenner in the market on fresh fruit and veg.

However I've got a nasty cough; feelinf flu'ey and have been avoiding the kitchen. So in a moment of weakness I spent £14 on chicken and chips for us all-which didnt even taste that great - plus OH asked for a tenner - which i gave him. Only cos i know he's being paid on Fri and since he wont be at work i'll be in a position to hassle him for it back. Plus its an amount I can expect him to refund me as well.
The only downside is that i simply didnt have the funds so its all come outta my savings.. and i was doing so well as well..have adjusted my signature accordingly..
I've decided that the min i get paid i shall 'repay' my savings account for this unnecessary take-away extravagance.

Ebay-wise I made £8 last night. A few more items left to end this afternoon - i've only got a tenners worth of bids, but about 30 watchers - so fingers crossed in that respect.

I'm also going to be scouring the recipes for cheap or veggie meals i can do using stuff i've already got it. I'm determined to try and manage with we've already got indoors. Although I know I'll have to pop into aldi / lidl for a bit for cheese (for cauliflour cheese), and kidney beans etc.Bits like that. I have £6 in my purse so i'm determined that'll have to last till at least Fri.

    Hi Bartgirl,

I dont post normally but i want to say that i have just come across your thread and you are a total inspiration.
I am so excited reading how much stronger you have become since you started this. You are a great mum and everything you are doing to provide a better life for your son and yourself is unbelievable.
I dont have children and I dont have an unsupporting OH, but I wish I had half the motivation and strength that you have to improve my life.
If I lived with your OH I think I would be doing 15 years in a cell by now!
Keep up the brilliant work and I look forward to reading your future posts and seeing you grow in confidence even more.

One thing I would like to say, I got up to watch the Grand Prix this morning and ending up missing most of it because I was so engrossed in your thread!
    Thank goodness there is a re-run later.:D

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support.Your kindness always brings tears to my eyes - which reminds me how delicate i really am at the moment..

Although at the moment i'm feeling rather rough (flu etc) inside i am feeling alot stronger.

Yesterday was a moment when i shocked myself too - OH was talking about DSs poor eating habits (which incidentally have improved tremendously with help from a professional) and what he usually does is make comments to himself about the problem and he started muttering about how sooner or later he'll be taught how to eat whats put in front of him. Then because i've taken to lying on the sofa with a duvet - DS has started copying me. OH disapproves and said that i'm teaching him 'stupidhabits that he'll pick up easily' and usually to avoid a confrontation i'll say nothing. For some reason i found the strength to say something and i said to him "i'd rather him pick up that habit than any other nasty habits around here" - and he knew exactly what i meant - cos OH has a habit i've never mentioned but its not exactly one that you'd be proud of...nuff said.

His response was "even kids that go wrong come from homes with love"..

Gosh - I'm just glad that one of these days I'll be OUTTA HERE

As I type - he remains in the land of nod...no surprise there. He already warned me he;ll be hogging the telly today for sky sports rubbish...

    Hi Eagles

No word of a lie. But now i fuly understand why women can be driven to do things like that. I told my sister that once - if there'd have been a weapon in this house i would not trust myself with it. I have felt awfully low at some points.

I could never go that far but its one of those things where i can sympathise..

    Thanks Molly
I am feeling alot lot better.
I do feel like a naughty little girl having whittled all these savings away - unbeknownst to OH.
But it also feels good to not be propping him up 24/7.
Yestday he was trying to get stuck into all the lil activities i was doing with DS - like playing in the rain etc - but it was weird and felt unnatural ???? dunnno why he's bothering ???

  • Hi Bartgirl

I always read your diray and agree with everyone else ablout how well you are doing and you deserve a medal for coping with your OH he sounds a joy!! If you can cope with this part of your life you can cope with anything and when you have your 'new' life you'll have all the skills to make it how you want it to be because if you can cope while he is try to drag you down you will literally 'fly' without him.

You are setting such a good example to your son, I am guessing he will be so proud of you one day. And don't worry about your OH half saying you are teaching him bad habits etc he is just projecting his own guilt etc onto you, its easier for some people to do that than face their own demons. Leave him to it and carry on with that you are doing you are doing so well.

He is probably finding you more attractive now you are being strong and independent and standing up to him and he probably realises deep down that the way he is acting your son is going to notice who does what for him etc
