Ublock and Ghostery for me, plus I use OpenDNS (https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/) to further reduce adware and malware from being accessible from my router

I haven't tried Brave but I'm suspicious of their speed claims. I suspect that they're comparing their browser, with built-in ad-blocking with other browsers with no blocking extension.

For the record, Opera comes with built-in ad-blocking, and a VPN, both of which can be turned on and off as required.

Saying that using an ad-blocker extension is "complicated" is nonsense. Nothing could be more simple. Most people use uBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus. Personally I use Disconnect. They all work and take seconds to install. If you don't like one, uninstall it and try another. These days, even Edge has 3 or 4 ad-blocking extensions available.

EDIT: I've been checking the reviews of Brave and it's fair to say they're mixed. It is chromium-based, like some other browsers (Opera, Vivaldi). The ad-blocking seems to work well and it also has a built-in VPN and built-in equivalent of 'HTTPS Everywhere'. However, the browser is still a work in progress; in particular, it does not yet support extensions, which would be a serious problem for some users.

Try Flashpeak Slimjet, it is Chrome based, with the
google spy stuff removed. There is also a built in add blocker, which besides being disabled by default, it is not that good, so just addon uBlock Origin. Hands down the snappiest browser I have ever used.
