>>>>>The excuse was pathetic, they claimed that the colours were not accurate and that they had had to do research in Govt archives to get the correct colour codes.............I'm sure Airfix did the correct colours for RAF & Luftwaffe aircraft back in the 70's....!
Actually, Atlas are quite correct. I've received the models and they are suitably dark in colour, quite accurate to the real thing. They have obviously done a great deal of research.
To say that the Airfix models of the 70s were correct is laughable. The Airfix models were notoriously incorrect on almost every aspect, from the actual moulds themselves to the colours. The duck egg blue myth that they started for the underside of Spitfires is legendary!
>>>>>I also pointed out to them that throughout this period they have still been taking orders for these planes, despite knowing that they could not possibly honour their 2-3 weeks delivery.
Presumably you hadn't paid them a bean before placing your order? In which case, what is unfair about that?
Overall, and speaking from experience, these collection tend to be round about 30 items. In the most part the models are unavailable elsewhere, so for me (I collect model planes) they're well worth it. They're not that expensive. In fact they are cheaper that Corgis and many others.
I must also mention the booklets that come with the models. You don't get anything with a Corgi model, even for four times the price! So no complaints from me.
My advice. There is no catch. Just read the information they send you and you will be OK.0 -
I bought 4 planes in the series, then cancelled. No more arrived. No problems.0

I also found this by Google-ing, although I'm an avid MSE follower. :T
Thanks for this advice. My partner has got the 2 free planes so far (Spitfire and another one) and want to go for the £9.99 offer on the next 2 as well. We'd worked out it'd then cost around £25 a month for the others (£19.99 + £4.99 P&P). I suggested he take the next 2 at £9.99 and then cancel, but was wondering what the catch etc might be.0 -
Well, I sang their praises and they bit me in the !!!! - got the first set (eventually) and ordered the second - never received - received the third (P51/Fw190) and returned it with a cheque for the first and closed account - now get tons of cgs (computer generated !!!!!) demanding payment for stuff that:
a. I never received
b. I sent back (recorded delivery) so I know they have it back
ps. they cashed the cheque for £2.99 by the way
They are scum - AVOID AVOID AVOID.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I cancelled by post but it didn't get cancelled and the next model arrived with an invoice for £17.99!
The cancellation was with the payment so they recieved it.
I can send the model back but at my expense.:mad:0 -
I have to say I have never had any bother with them, at the moment I am receiving the duelling planes and have never had a non delivery, in the past I took the bomber collection they did and cancelled after a couple of sets as my son came back to stay with us and I lost my "spare" room so didn't have room for them, didn't have any problems at all and still haven't had0

At least a year or more ago I requested The First Pocketwatch and also decided to take the second watch also. I then cancelled after I received the second watch.:j
I have received no follow up mailings at all from Atlas Editions although I would have been quite happy to have had details of their other offers as they might just have interested me.:rotfl:
To my mind they actually have a good fair system you only pay after you receive your order and you are not obliged to buy anything else.:T0 -
I found this thread via google, maybe i should have googles before i purchased!? Have irdered a set of 60 cards about birds for 99p. Am unsure now whether i will be sent one and charged throught the nose for the other 59 or also whether i need to cancel something once i have received my cards?0
