I'm not at all happy with them.
I took up their offer of "Duelling Fighter planes" (Spitfire & Me109) "for just £2.99 (free P&P)" in March 2008.
On 26th April, I received a letter saying that there was a delay and that the items should be with me in 2-3 weeks.
The excuse was pathetic, they claimed that the colours were not accurate and that they had had to do research in Govt archives to get the correct colour codes.............I'm sure Airfix did the correct colours for RAF & Luftwaffe aircraft back in the 70's....!
Anyway, 3 Months later, still no sign of them, so I rang their call centre and was advised that they would definitely be sent out in early August.
I've just rung them again (27/08/08) and they assure me that the items were sent out last week with 2-3 weeks delivery from France.
So, I await their imminent arrival!
OK, so maybe there is nothing dodgy about the company, but to take 5 months to deliver something is appalling!
I also pointed out to them that throughout this period they have still been taking orders for these planes, despite knowing that they could not possibly honour their 2-3 weeks delivery.
Bottom line for me is that this company doesn't present themselves as someone I would want to be bothered to do business with in the future.
And I guess I have now opened myself up to being pestered by them for more "offers"............
I got the same letter, and I received my aeroplanes this week! I must admit, although I've only quickly looked at them, they look good.
Also, bear in mind that you didn't have to pay anything before you got your first ones - you get an invoice with the first delivery, so the delay (although slightly irritating) is not that big a deal. I've used them a couple of times before (maps, indian recipes) and not had any problems.
Basically, as others have said, the deal is:
- you get a set of [insert item here]. You are invoiced for 99p (plus p&p) (or whatever the offer price is).
- you are also offered the opportunity to receive more of the same (and get the first ones free).
You either send the cheque/p.o. for 99p and that's it; or you return the slip saying you want to continue... I've never done that yet, but if so you are told the price per month, and you can cancel at any time.
The only catches are:
1. You will end up (presumably) paying a lot if you get the complete collection - I can't see anywhere that tells you how many future sets you will need to get to complete the collection;
2. You will get future offers from them.
I've not found any evidence from my post that they sell names and addresses to other organisations.
Incidently, Atlas Editions is part of the same group as De Agostini, who do all those part-works.
I've actually contacted them today, asking how many aeroplanes there are altogether:e-mail_to_Atlas_Editions wrote:
I'm considering taking up the offer, but I want to know how many aeroplanes their are altogether in the collection. Obviously, I know there are at least 5 pairs of planes:
- Intro: Spitfire/ME109
- Next: Hurricane/Stuka
- 3rd: Mustang/FW 190D
- 4th: Corsair/Zero
- 5th: Tempest/ME262a
Before I commit myself, I want to know how many pairs there are altogether, to see if it's worth my spending my money!
Obviously, I only have a few more days to reply, so I need a response as soon as possible - if I haven't heard from you before Wednesday, I will simply send you the £2.99 and not get the rest of the collection.
Regards, Steve
So, if they want more money, they need to let me know my total commitment!0 -

In the meantime I've stopped further payments on my credit card, which will I hope stop them sending any more.
If i don't get a refund for the 2 broken watches I'll put a claim on my credit card company and let them sort it out.
Best of luck with any new users !0 -
I have just ordered one of the pocket watches.I think it will be OK for my hubby as he cann't wear a wrist watch,he must be allergic to the straps, but I went on to read the other posts and it seems like I will be sent more pocket watches.I have read the terms and conditions but found nothing to say this so could someone please tell me if this is true or not. After all I,ve only got one hubby so I only want one watch.if i had known then what i know now0

Grandma,
I hope you have better luck than me - I decided it might be nice to give one or two of these as presents , but the first couple would have been too difficult to see to be much use,so i decided to keep them.
Unfortunately after a couple of weeks one of them decided to lose about half-an-hour a day and i couldn't get the back off to regulate it,then the other one just stopped altogether. So I returned them, asking Atlas Editions not to send any more.
As usually happens, the 3rd one had already been sent out,so I returned that one too.
My advice to you is to buy hubby a decent watch from a reputable shop where you can speak to the jeweller before you buy.

Incidently, I've decided not to bother, I'm going to send them the cheque for the 1st two, and not get any more!0 -
