The Sainsburys card is now paid off and has a credit limit of £1,000 (it's my oldest credit card) should I cancel it or leave it open?
Half way through next year I'm going to need to do a balance transfer on my Barclays card, I'm just trying to plan out what would be the most efficient way maximizing my chances of acceptance of a BT card next year.
Currently when comparing cards online my chances are very low on a BT card, hopefully I can remedy that in the next 6-8 months.

Do Sainsburys offer BT deals to existing customers?
If so, it may be worth hanging on to it - you may be able to transfer some of your BC balance if needed.

How much do you think you will need to transfer?

BC are known for existing customer offers so you may find you are able to shuffle your debt around existing cards rather than applying for new.

  • Ah that's something I hadn't considered. It's currently got a balance of just under £2k on it and I'm only paying the minimum payment each month on it whilst concentrating on my other cards. Maybe I'll give it 2 or 3 months before reviewing it and see where I'm at then.
