Right.. I can't de personal replies because I can't remember anything..

Re ds2 getting lost.. he has special needs and not remembering things is one of his problems.. lack of spacial awareness and a fantastic ability to forget where he is going and what he is doing. When I filled out his DLA forms I said I was really concerned he would get lost going to school so we were actually given middle rate mobility allowance so we can get him a chaperone to school (which is impossible) or we can stretch to a taxi if he continues with this whic is what we are looking at now.. most firms won't take a child on his own which is the new problem.. it'll sort. I can just imagine the state he was in by the time they found him.. he'll have been crying and frightened and I had been too lapse to put some credit on his phone (he had £10 last 9 months!!) I have done that now and we have discussed what to do if it happens again.. ie go into the nearest shop and ask for help.. they can phone school to come collect him or he can ask an elderly lady for help.. there are loads in the town centre at that time in a morning!!.. He doesn't talk to men anyway. Hopefully we have strategies now which may help.

Had a great night last night.. I felt a bit shaky before we went out.. then at 1:30am I started being sick and didn't stop until half 3.. so spent until 7pm tonight in bed with a blinding headache. I feel ok-ish now.. but not tired so I may well still go out and glug a gallon of lemonade! lol

I've just been contacted by my best friend at primary school via friendsreunited.. I have replied, without thinking too much about it.. so we shall see where that takes us.

Anyway.. I need to eat some more food.. my stomach handled the chips hubby cooked earlier so I should manage more food.. I want ice cream though..

As a result.. no flying done.. but there's always tomorrow..

Lil_me.. sounds like Matthew is a little fighter!! The paed from SCBU refused to have DD5 in there because he said 'anything that screams like that does not need to be in MY special care!!!'.. she inherited her dads big mouth .. *blush*

Pigpen, thanks for the message about Matthew, he's on a normal ward now not needing venitlator etc and hopefully today will have accepted feeds, going to text his Mam in a mo. With your DS - What about a card he can show in a shop etc, I know some kids on the sprectrum that asking or even that first approach can be hard for them, maybe with 'I'm lost please phone my mam on ***********' or even bits of paper, could keep them in his school bag, kids I help with we put it on a key ring and fasten it to their trousers. Would seriously ask school about calling if he isn't there by say registration, least they can do to support you. Also might be worth asking the LEA about providing transport for him.
One day I might be more organised...........

michelle - when i was a bridesmaid last year we paid to get some dyed and they were great. cost about £20 though so with 4 bridesmaids i am not sure. the lady in the wedding shop said you can do them yourself if they are dark colours (choc brown for my bridesmaids). i had a go with some my mum got off freecycle. i didn't get the dye dark enough at first so after 3 goes over they worked! kind of took the sheen off a bit as they got quite wet in the process. however they look fine so i'd definitely reccommend doing it!

i was advised to use dylon multipurpose dye as dylon satin shoe dye has been phased out. i followed these instructions. apparently you should also scotchguard them to stop them running if it rains!

i think i am going to do them all for my wedding. the dye is less than £2 and it will cost me £80 to get them done professionally. it just seems a lot for one day. i got some for £20 in a sale at a bridal shop for one, am getting my sister some off ebay, one has offered to let me dye her own wedding shoes and hopefully the other will do the same.

sorry, short question, long answer :D

Michelle & Tracy - they are exactly the same things DS would choose to play with (except the mouse as I have a laptop which he likes to bang as hard as he can when open or closed!) He also loves pulling all the dvds off the shelf, I put his little books on the same shelf and he has no interest whatsoever in those! Except 'dear zoo' which is his favourite!

Tracy that sounds like my dd2 - only been sick four times in her life and she is 8 now - one of those times was allover my mums brand new cream 3 pce suite! Another was in my mums car! Hope he is ok now.

Pigpen - sorry to hear you are feeling ill - was wondering where you were! Hope the lemonade does the trick!!! lol!

My DS screamed loudly ALL nite on his first night in SCBU -they gave him a pink dummy and formula milk when I wasn't there! I had planned to breastfeed (and still did eventually) and wasn't giving him a dummy as dd2 had one until last year in bed (aged 7!). But they did make him better so can't complain.

Thanks Lil me and Tori - he's fine now, think it had something to do with IL's stuffing choc buttons in him through the service - its the only time he has choc when they see him! Had to laugh at both your sick stories - don't you love kids? Also hes in a good rountine and is tired out so that could prehaps affect him. But saying that I've just started feeling sick and only had 2 glasses of wine so its not that, hope its not a bug.

Lilme - so glad to hear Matthew is holding his own - what a star

Michelle - DS loves his stacking cups too! Likes to shout into them as they have different holes in bottom so all sound different. Thats great about the spoon, daren't try DS yet but he loves to finger feed - very handy when you can give him lunch and iron/get tea ready while hes chomping.

Pigpen - hope you feel better, sounds like a migrane

DH is watching rugby *yawns* so am faffing about on line, promised to make me a brew when its finished.

Just managed to catch up on the posts. I've been busy all day. This morning, hunting the shops for a 40's style dress for DD who was invited to a party, and told to wear that style. Near impossible task, as she doesn't do dresses anyway. In the end, she MSN'd her friend, and they agreed she could just wear party gear. Sigh of relief from me, and my budget. Nicki, you're not the only one near skint this month... I've had to write grovelling letter to bank, and resolved to spend no money for the next six weeks, or there'll be no Christmas shopping...Good luck with the budgeting. I'm now seriously thinking of trying a few days supply if I can get it, although the prospect is terrifying.

Just done the clothes washing today. Will catch up on Monday morning which I have free.

This afternoon I visited Mum, who was much better than she has been for the last three weeks. We even had a conversation, albeit a short one! I'm not getting my hopes up, just enjoying the time I can be with her.

Jill - don't you dare try to do anything but feed, love, change and cuddle that baby! The dust won't be going anywhere!!:D

Thank you for the facebook friends invites - I'm not sure I know what I'm doing yet!!! If I do anything wrong, or appear to ignore anyone, please don't take offence, just put it down to ignorance.:o

  • We all seem to have had SCBU babies on here! DS was in one for 1 week and I have nothing but praise for them.
Glad everyone is okay - big hugs to all who need them today, particulary headaches - yuk!!
    Have a good weekend

I've never had migraine before.. I am hoping it was DD5's stomach bug (she was sick on Wednesday.. very sick!!) coupled with a hangover (that I NEVER get!!)

I just want food now anyway because I am STARVING.. chucked last nights dinner.. so not had anything since yesterday lunchtime until 7pm tonight.. I'll be thin if I'm not careful!! Can't be doing with weighing less than 11 stone now can I!!
