My kitchen is decluttered!!!!!!
:D:D :dance::dance::dance::j:j:j
There is nothing in there now that I don't use, or keep for a reason (like my vase - I rarely have flowers in the house but I keep it for the rare occasions I do get them) except for an electric steamer IL's got us for Christmas
I've used it erm...twice :rotfl: I'd like to get rid (like the ice-cream maker I've erm...happened to put with the charity boxes in the hopes OH won't object!) but OH might object as he likes rice done in it?
I might have a go at doing steamed rice in my hob-top steamer tonight and see if I can show that we don't need to keep the steamer
Besides which everytime I've used it my kitchen has ended up like a sauna
Oh and the chest of drawers is empty:j:j now debating what to do with it...do I keep it and put it under the stairs to store all the DIY bits in and free up a shelf set (or two) from under there? OR do I get rid? I'd like to get rid, but I'll have to see whats left when I tackle under the stairs PROPERLY. Actually I don't think there is enough "drawerable" stuff under there to make efficient use of it
:D I'll see.
Now it's time to do some cleaning, after I've put the rubbish out in a neighbours bin - ours is full and they don't come until Thursday:rotfl::rotfl: Thank goodness there is a single person living next door who never fills their bin
:rotfl::rotfl: Hang on...is that the time? I should have lunch first!
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
My kitchen is done as much as its going to get done, except the dishes (cant be azzed) and the floor (will do after kids are in bed, when I have to clean it again anyway.)
Rest of the place is Ok.
I did linseed oil the patio table outside, took ages, its 2mtrs in diameter! I was good, picked linseed oil as its only mildly toxic to the environment, where the teak oil was very toxic! Does that bring down my carbon footprint?
Tin of sweetcorn for lunch (I have no appetite) and of course :coffee:
anyone else? fresh pot!0 -
well done nicki!
got some of my work done, a lot still to go so will crack on once i've finished my lunchchilli is yummy

Just popping in after lunch, to catch up. It's been raining here for ages too, so no work for me today. And as I woke up with a cold, no hospital visiting either. I've firmly told myself that I will relax and try to enjoy my enforced day's rest and not feel guilty!
As I did the kitchen yesterday, I did the sittingroom, hall and stairs today. I think it's about a Level 3, but I skimped a bit on the computer desk, and ignored the back of the fireplace. I hate cleaning in there. We have one of those lookalike gas fire grates with coals, and the spiders absolutely love it. There seems to be a whole load of stuff that falls down the chimney too - yuck. We haven't used the fire since DS1 was born, when we boxed in the gas switch for safety. He's now 17 (and probably still not safe with gas...), but we've since acquired a computer desk that fills that alcove, so we still wouldn't be able to switch it on.
On the plus side, I have cleaned the wall lights - upturned glass bowls - dust traps. Can't think why I bought them.
I have lots of paperwork to catch up on as well, so after my coffee, I'll have to get cracking!
PS I baked this morning too - Dorset apple cake. Delicious!
2oz margarine or butter
3oz sugar
4oz flour
2 eggs
1lb apples, cooking or eating, peeled, sliced, then chopped into pieces
Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs, fold in flour, then apple. Turn into either round pyrex pie dish, or I use a 7"-8" square deep tin. Bake for 25-30 mins at 170C (my fan oven), 350F or mark 4.
Recipe comes from The Farmer's Wife Book of Farmhouse Food.
It works just as well as a hot pudding or a cold cake, but I don't know if it lasts longer than one day, as I have never managed to keep one that long.:DIt is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
all this cake talk is making me hungry(ier)!
