I suspect it is just another ploy to blame the over 60s for everything.
This kind of tinfoilhattery is what gets people into these messes.

Regular readers of this thread will find this hilarious.Propaganda talents’: Lord Adonis accuses BBC’s Andrew Neil of pro-Brexit bias in Twitter spatBBC veteran political interviewer Andrew Neil is “thoroughly biased” and talented in spreading “propaganda” about Brexit, former Labour minister Lord Andrew Adonis has claimed in a Twitter tirade.
“I admire Andrew Neil’s journalistic & propaganda talents. But he is a lead BBC politics i/viewer [interviewer] & this breaches duty of impartiality,” Adonis tweeted.
Adonis says he is writing to Lord Hall, the BBC’s director general, to say Neil should no longer be a BBC politics presenter because of his “pro-Brexit bias.” He added that Brexiteers “control” the state-run broadcaster.

No doubt Andrew Adonis is BFF with Blur and Mandleson - the chief puppet masters of all things labour. They are no doubt trying to get rid of the only unbiased Brexit commentator on the BBC........0 -

What do you expect from someone who compared leaving the EU with appeasing the Nazis.0 -
it was always intended to be a bit more than that, but even if it turned into more than we wanted, the UK was pushing for expansion until very recently.
Do you remember that being headline billing on any recent UK political party manifesto?
Maybe the likes of Tesco or Sports Direct saw the EU expansion as the only viable route to abundant cheap labour, and lobbied the government hard.
It might have been good for business, but it clearly came with a social cost too.
I think we have tried to change UK society too much, too quickly, and the growing pains are evident.
My head teacher friend goes back to a school which has to deal with 68 languages! (or as they call it, a complete f****ing nightmare).0 -

Unsure where you got that fact from.
On a broader level these are considered the major issues of enlargement policy which has been too fast too soon.1. INSTITUTIONAL OVERLOAD
The EU is full to bursting point. With 28 members the Union is already teetering on the brink of institutional gridlock. Any more would overload the system making effective decision-making impossible and turning the EU into an ineffectual mini-UN. Nor can the EU afford to expand. Apart from Iceland, all the potential candidates would place a huge strain on EU budgets. Rich members like Germany can’t afford to pay for the likes of Turkey and Montenegro. Poorer members don’t want the competition for EU structural funds.
2.DEEPER NOT WIDER
Successive enlargements have diluted the aims of the EU’s founding fathers. Ever wider Europe has replaced ever greater union. The larger the EU becomes, the less likely it is to develop into a true political union. It’s no coincidence the British, whose vision of the EU is a little more than a free-trade zone, are the biggest apologists for enlargement. It’s time to draw a line and rebuild the EU around core nations who really believe in the Union. If not, where do we stop: Israel, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Cape Verde?
3. ASKING FOR TROUBLE
Recent enlargements were already a step too far. Romania and Bulgaria clearly do not meet EU standards on issues like corruption; Orban’s activities reveal the immaturity of Hungarian democracy; Euro-skeptics in Prague and Warsaw have held Europe back. Western nations have been flooded with cheap labour, while the newcomers’ low labour standards and unfair taxes have sucked investment Eastward. Future enlargements would be even worse. The Balkans is plagued with ethnic and territorial disputes; Ukraine’s membership would bring the EU into conflict with Russia; Turkey is sliding backwards and risks undoing years of reform.
4. IT’S NOT GOOD FOR THEM
These countries are not ready for EU membership. Their economies would not survive the competition and they would become dependent on the West. Did Balkan countries struggle to break free from Yugoslavia only to see their national independence surrendered to Brussels? Ukraine would be better off with its natural ally to the East. Turkey does not want Western values imposed on its culture – its future lies as a regional power in the Middle East.0 -

Not because you're attempting to promote your own bias, perchance?
FYI votes in this country are counted.
They are not then sorted by age, race, educational attainment, religion or any other method which would allow accurate interpretation of such factors.
Suggesting that polls such as in your links might be accurate when based upon a survey of circa five thousand respondents is at best ill-advised, if for no other reason than that (as we know) when asked a question, people are not always as honest as you might hope.0 -

Not because you're attempting to promote your own bias, perchance? :whistle:I keep reading this about the old voting to exit. But that is not my experience. Every over 60 I have spoken to voted remain, it is the 40s & 50s who voted leave. The main reason given was to protect their children's future. I suspect it is just another ploy to blame the over 60s for everything.
Perhaps you should speak to this person.
Calling me biased. Chortle. Just look at what you just did. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
