Brexit, the economy and house prices (Part 3)

On topic; there won't be another referendum because it'd be a remain win and that'd be political suicide. Mays only interest now is staying employed.
We'll take a Norway deal at the last minute and no one will be happy and we'll all continue to blame each other and the big bad eu. We'll then rejoin in about 15-20 years.0 -
No chance of another referendum. If that was going to happen it would have happened by now.
If it did, I would predict roughly 55-45 win for remain.
All efforts of remainers should focus on ensuring we remain in the single market rather than trying to get a second vote.0 -

VW was set up to develop a car design approved by Hitler, Audi is the name "Horch" translated into Latin, Horch being a manufacturer of Nazi staff cars. Porsche made his money designing tanks for the Nazi armed forces and Zyklon B was still being unrepentantly produced as late as 2000.
BMW stands for "Bought Mainly By W*ankers" and pretty well all of these modern-day Nazi staff cars are bought to be left on the drive by people who never drive at more than 40mph and who imagine their sheeplike bad taste in cars makes them the envy of their row of semis.
They're also not especially reliable.
I'm not sure what comparable "stigma" applies to Japanese cars, unless it's that of working properly and not identifying their drivers as abject to55ers.
If that's the case why are German cars so popular and why do people pay way over the odds for the badge?
Korean and Chinese cars have a reputation for being crap; try suggesting a Kia over on the motoring forum. Japanese cars were regarded as crap 30 years ago and still avoided by a lot of people currently driving large BMW or audis.
I don't agree of course, my Hyundai is pretty decent nd my next one will be nissan / mitsubishi.0 -
I see and hear no comments that the motivation for Brexit was a view that the UK is somehow inherently superior to every other nation and thus cannot remain in the EU. My personal motivation was an aspiration that we could be better and happier outside of an EU that is heading for an ever closer union.
That said, why does it seemingly offend you (and others on here) that the UK might be the best?
It doesn't offend me at all [that the UK might be the best] you are free to believe whatever you wish, but as I said, if the UK is not happy in the EU, Brexit and go but eventually it would be better if the ongoing bashing stops because after all the EU is home to 444M people who are happy to live and continue to the EU seek further integration.
Motivation for Brexit seems to be different all the time but the constant is that the EU is bad and evil and then you wonder why folks in the EU can't wait to cut the UK lose.EU expat working in London0 -
If there was another referendum, remain would definitely win. So I guess they want to wait till the next generation takes that decision (which they will).
Such a waste of money and time. In 30-40 years UK will be an EU member so not sure what the whole point of it all is0 -

Needs the UKs money
The UK represents about 10% of the EU population, so significant consumption and contribution from the market , and is the 2nd highest contributor to its funding.
Their tactic of bullying us into changing our mind shows that they are scared of losing us, despite what they say
If we were insignificant, as is being made out, then us leaving wouldn't be an issue
They also know we will be fine without them, which the other nations will also see0 -

Can't see that happening. I think we will end up with a Norway or Switzerland type relationship in the longer term future. Which is our natural position. We have never been committed to the political union anyway.0 -

We already were outside it.
We had opted out of ever closer union, out of the Eurozone, and retained sovereignty of our own laws and borders while remaining in the single market and holding a veto.
Then the Leavers decided to trash all this. For what? For nothing it seems.0 -

That is the saddest thing about it - we already had an amazing deal!
We had the best of all worlds. A unique position that took decades to develop.0
