The fact that someone says something doesn't make it a fact that what they say is true. Nor does it automatically make it a lie. You take everything at face value if you wish but I'll keep taking an interest in what some people say AND mean whilst ignoring others if that's ok.
May isn't being honest and neither is Boris. It'll probably come as a massive shock when you read about what's been going off in their autobiographies in a few years time.
Politician not being completely honest!

I'm not disputing the accepted definition.A_Medium_Size_Jock wrote: »Nor does it automatically make it a lie.
Agreed. The fact of saying something doesn't confer that something is a fact.
Why does it bother you so much that I think Boris and May have a difficult working relationship? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
What you said I said and what I actually said are two totally different things so please don't try to put words in my mouth.
And if you think that Davis is begging for a trade deal, you must think you know something that no one else does.
Well done. You've spent two days not commenting on the UK's negotiating tactics and, instead, focused on whether you said what I said you said and whether I can prove Davis is begging.
I'm clearly not above debating the debate, Jock certainly isn't but you give the impression of being above that sort of thing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Can you elaborate? My understanding is that the numbers favour the EU; we sell more to them, percentage wise, than they buy from us.
What do percentages have to do with anything? Cash is king. Cash is what pays peoples wages, generates tax revenues etc. Lack of work will hit peoples jobs.0 -

Get real. She must be pulling her hair out.A_Medium_Size_Jock wrote: »TPerhaps instead some pro-remainers are peeved and attempting distraction because TM reaffirmed on Marr that the UK will leave the EU in March 2019.
Not this pro-remainer. My working assumption has been we're leaving the EU since June 24th 2016. I'm up for it but fear the government have made sufficient mis-steps for their competence to be in question. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Show me where I say it bothers me?
Yet again you (deliberately?) misinterpret logic.
What does however bother me is a propensity to state as fact that which simply is untrue or is at best an opinion, especially when the basis is no more than that of an obviously-biased media source.
Perhaps show some objectivity rather than lemming-like desire to follow blindly.0 -

Look me up when their autobiographies come out and we'll discuss again.

If you like. It still bothers you though and I have no idea why. The relationship between May and Boris is fractious at best. I think they probably detest each other. You do too but can't now concede the point.
Articulate lying is nothing to Boris and I doubt he gives it a second thought. May is different - she's not a natural liar which is why she just repeats statements which aren't answers to the questions posed.

They had an understanding , a truce. Only way of uniting different factions within the party.0
