I'm certainly inspired to do so having followed your journey, Wish. But I reckon with moving up the ladder and getting a bigger mortgage, it'll be more of a longer term goal.

However, I am thinking of making small overpayments, even something like £20 per month, just to start the habit and see where it takes us! :)
  • Busy end to a busy week.

Still haven't done that Oc4do shop! I think I'll go to the supermarket tomorrow and do a 'big' shop seeing as its the weekend.

Second house viewing this weekend - quite excited. If we are certain we like it and we can afford it, we will offer.

Other than that, I think I will do a wardrobe sort.

  • Woke up early - I think its because I've been up super early all week. DF just about mobilising now. I'm also a bit excited about second house viewing today.

Spent about 30 mins on YNAB this morning just recording my expenditures from the week and looking at how things are shaping up over the next few months.

If we were to complete at the end of May, I should in theory have about £3,900 in savings (that includes June's savings from salary paid on Friday 31st May. This is more than enough to cover my half of sell / buy fees and expenses, which I have guesstimated to be around £6,600. If I sell my car, I should get another £2,000, which we can use to cover some immediate expenses we may have when moving into a new property.

I've also a mortgage application all set up and ready to go with DF's family broker. If we like the property we're seeing again today, we will offer and hopefully, if we can get an acceptance before the end of the day, I can push the button on the mortgage application on Monday / Tuesday. All very much best case scenario stuff. Viewing is later this morning. It's been on the market since late autumn. Vendors want a quick sale (its empty) and other viewers have been put off by its size and remote location (both of which are on our desirable list).

So glad its nearly Easter - I am desperate for a break from work so I can focus fully on house stuff.

Sounding good, Dr Spendlittle - the fact that it is empty and has been for a while and the things that you see as advantages appear to be disadvantages to others could really work in your favour, price-wise! :T

Fingers crossed for the second house viewing. Won't you need a car if it is remote?

  • Thanks everyone :)

House is perfect and we've offered :)

Need to wait until Monday to find out if it is acceptable as EA's closed at midday and they didn't get a chance to speak to the vendor (the EA's did the second viewing. We met the vendors on the first viewing).

Enthusiastic - we have two cars at the moment and whilst the property is remote, it is near public transport that will take us both to our respective work places, so no need for two cars :)

In other news, I did a good supermarket shop and went to B'n'M to stock up on toiletries. No other spends planned in the next week other than fuel and a top up shop.
