What gets ironed?

There are 6 of us in our house and I iron all bedding (duvet covers, pillow cases, fitted sheets), tea towels, all clothes (except socks and underwear) - so work clothes, home clothes, lots of school uniforms, activity clothes (Scouts, Cadets etc). When my children were babies I ironed bibs, muslin cloths, baby vests, babygros etc.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

I don't iron fitted sheets, but I do iron flat sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases, I iron towels as I line dry them, ironing softens them up.0

if it needs ironing I don't buy it, simple
while I agree that getting into a bed with ironed bedding is lovely I refuse to waste the electricity to do it, my bed is comfy enough0 -
When I get my own property I will do little ironing as possible. Work uniform doesn't get ironed, in fact I cant see anything getting ironed so wont even buy an iron.0

Usually I will iron a top or dress for a special occasion like a wedding.
That's about it.
Can't remember the time I even did that!
Honestly think the majority of ironing is unnecessary these days, it's a hangover from the past when clothes were made of rigid fabrics and went through the mangle after being beaten in a tub with a stick.
Work uniforms and male formal shirts I can totally see the need for. Everything else? No way.0 -
I'm in the .minority here. I iron most stuff but not dishcloths, bras, socks, and stuff that obviously doesn't need it like fleecy items.
I iron teatowels as it kills any germs. I change them at least once a day. Plus they look neater when hanging over the handle on the oven door. I iron towels as most of them are old. And I have no tumble dryer to soften them. It's a very quick job though. They hardly take any time to do. I iron bedding as it feels and looks much better. Also my son has very bad eczema and I feel it's more hygenic if I iron his.
I really enjoy ironing though. I like doing it while watching tv at night. It's relaxing. I am not a tidy person or fastidious about anything really, apart from the ironing. Just ask anyone who knows me lol I just might be a bit obsessed by it.0
