What gets ironed?

As little as I can get away with though I do like linen in the summer so have to do a bit. Pillowcases I do iron as I like them crisp but sheets etc. no way. I just fold them really well and have enough sets that they can lurk in the cupboard for a while which presses the creases out. I did used to have a heavy cotton duvet cover that did need ironed. I used to make the bed up and them iron it in situ!0

If you have to ask, then the answer is no!!
The only things I iron are business shirts - pretty much everything else just gets folded and put away.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Good grief, life is far too short for ironing. I iron on an as and if needed basis and then on a do I really need to iron the back and sleeves if i am wearing a cardi or jacket...make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Very little. Hankies, so that they fit nicely in the drawer (Mr LW and I both use "mens" hankies) and the occasional item of clothing that *really* needs to be ironed - Mr LW will iron a shirt if we're going to the theatre or something like that, and I have a couple of dresses/skirts that *need* to be ironed; but we certainly don't iron bedlinen, towels or tea cloths. Life's too short for extraneous ironing!!
My mother, on the other hand, ironed absolutely everything including towels, knickers and socks. :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Probably about 5 mins' of ironing a month.
Cloth hankies and napkins (because I like the look of them ironed) and the occasional work shirt which looks ropey if un-ironed.
I have pure cotton sheets and, if I manage to turn the linen around the same day, it goes back on the bed un-ironed. If sheets have to go in the linen cupboard, I fold them in four lengthwise and quickly iron them so they take up less of the (very limited) space in there.
Pillowcases, duvets, towels, teatowels, undies, jammies - never.
I got my iron in 1987 and don't expect this lightly-used item to conk out anytime soon.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Linen trousers (they're a linen/poly mix but still need ironing) and one cotton shirt that I own. Er - think thats it's! Sheets, duvets, pillowcases - no. T-shirts - no, they smooth out as soon as they're on. Jeans - ditto. Cardigans, the same.
I used to iron tea towels (I use lots, even though I have a dishwasher) but now that I roll them instead of folding, they don't need it. The iron and ironing board are out right now, to press the seams in my sewing project. That's what I mostly use it for.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. I must admit I am surprised (and secretly pleased) at the amount of people that don't iron much
I always thought it was just me, felt guilty for being lazy as I assumed everyone else irons most things.0 -
very little, work shirts, a few linen items (summer wear only).A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

I iron things once, right before they go to the charity shop; if they need an iron after drying, I have bought the wrong thing.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

When I first started doing my own laundry (and ironing was a bit of a novelty), I used to iron absolutely everything, including my son's baby socks, nappies (in the days of real nappies) & bibs. I ruined so many items of lacy underwear because the iron was too hot, lol, and I used to hate washing the bedding as it was such a nightmare to iron. Now, if it's not creased, or won't be seen, it doesn't get ironed, and what clothes I do iron get done when needed, or when I'm in the mood to do the lot.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
