What gets ironed?

Gosh this is interesting!
I used to earn my pocket money by doing all the ironing, so I iron most things, including DP's cotton work socks (well, until he retired) but not as far as my bras:eek: I do subscribe to the germ reduction idea for towels, socks and the like, but I also like things to look smooth, and ironing them does make a difference. Like JackieO, I enjoy it and like to watch tv while I work.
Q - Is it weird that I also enjoy watching the occasional video of someone else ironing?:D***Mortgage Free Oct 2018 - Debt Free again (after detour) June 2022***

I don't iron nearly as much as I used to. I have given up ironing tea towels and bedding apart from pillows lips. I hang stuff quite carefully to minimise ironing. I do need to iron my work clothes , especially in summer as I like linen trousers. I did hope that my OH might take up ironing but he puts in more creases than he removes, possibly on purpose.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Nothing. Most clothes are dry cleaned and only underwear and pjs are washed and I dont iron them. Don't iron bed linen. Don't own a tea towelJune challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

OP- Why create more work for yourself? If it doesn't need ironing, don't iron it.
Me ~ I iron nothing, nada, zilch
and that ain't changing ever
ETA: I give everything a good shake straight from being washed in the WM and line dry outside, weather permitting!
This is me too ^^^
Good shake before hanging out, then fold prperly when taking off the line. Job done.

Why would anyone iron towels? That will flatten all the loops, ditto for towelling tea-towels. Cotton one are just smoothed out.
I like heavy cotton bedding, but only iron the pillow cases.
Any cloths designed to fit tightly, socks and knickers don't need ironing.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I iron as little as possible. I DO, however, iron once a week. I do my sons school uniforms for the week and my work trousers as they get a terrible crease otherwise. NOTHING else gets ironed routinely. I will iron for a night out but as they are few and far between I can't really count it.
My BF mother on the other hand irons EVERYTHING and I mean everything! Towels, pants the lot.Whispers. I also don't iron teatowels because all my washing up sits on the drainer till it's dry. Or till I can be arsed putting it away. So I don't actually use them.
^^ this is actually more hygienic :T using a towel to dry can transfer germs - air drying doesn't......its true (but also a very good excuse for me not to towel dry dishes)Emma

I have to confess .......
I iron
Sheets, towels, pillow cases , face cloths, you name it it gets ironed
It all sits neatly in the hot press when ironed
And I like to see my husband looking smart in an ironed shirt. I even iron his work clothes ( he's a builder), holey tee shirts, the lot

If it doesn,t show it does get ironed in this house. As somebody else has Said , life,s too short. Shirts, blouses and occasionally some decent trousers of my husband!s. I do iron pillowcases though because they show but wouldn,t dream of iron sheets, tea towels or stuff like that. In winter tee shirts are draped over hot radiators to air. That usually removes any creases.0

I've always been a bit confused about the ironing the bedding that shows. Do some people have other people looking in their bedrooms. Or is it for the ten minutes before they turn off the light at night? Surely you have to look at your un- ironed clothes for longer than you look at your ironed bedding?
But then again I am a slob lady.
Though I do like to iron linen clothes, even though I know that within 30 seconds of wearing they will look like I've slept in them.0 -

I have a couple of pairs of linen trousers and know what you mean. When they reach the end of their life they won,t be replaced. I,m at the stage of my life where I prefer clothes which are easily maintained. That why I always go for washable rather than dry cleanable although I!ve found you can often cheat the label if you hand wash an item or machine wash on a low temperature.0
