cleaning washing machine drawer

I remove the drawer (easily said than done with some machines), scrub what bits I can easily get to, then put it in the washing up bowl and pour boiling water over it - that usually dissolves whatever gunk is sticking to it. You can always try a bleach mixture (or soda crystals - but not both) to soak the drawer in before rinsing well and putting back into the machine. Make sure that you use an old scourer to scrub inside before putting the drawer back again. Maybe that's a good time to do your really hot wash to give the whole machine a thorough clean out.
Good idea to use a dosing ball in the drum to stop the drawer getting slimey/stinky/clogged up.0 -
I get the same prob as the OP and I pull the drawer out completly and poke at the hole with small interdental brushes really thin ones for me this works a treat pulls all the black goo out as you pull it out, little bit tiresome but lasts me about 6 months before it needs to be done again.0

My hotpoint one you have to lift the drawer slightly at an angle then pull it out.

Thank you xThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
Even if you use a dosing ball, that doesnt eliminate the need for fabric conditioner, so still gunks up0

Some use white vinegar instead of conditioner, also the 2 in 1 liquids/capsules would eliminate the need as such aswell. I said I'd never use in drawer stuff when I got my new machine, then the money saver in me got a good deal on Bold washing powderso bang went that idea.
One day I might be more organised...........

I think the fabric conditioner partition in my washing machine is blocked.I can't smell the fabric conditioner on my washing anymore and everytime I open the drawer it just seems to be full of water and fabric conditioner that has gone all gunky.I've pulled out the drawer as far as it will go and taken all the bits out and given them a thorough clean but the bit where the fabric conditioner goes is a like a little funnel standing on end and it's not reachable.Any idea, such as what will dissolve the blockage without wrecking the machine.Thankyou.0

I had something very similar happen to my washing machine recently and it turned out to be blocked water jet holes above the fabric softener compartment. A washing machine engineer advised me to clean the roof just above the fabric softener compartment with a toothbrush to get rid of the gunk from the holes. It worked for me so might be worth a try for you.

as above but try pouring boiling hot water into the drawer too - make sure the washing machine door is shut first !
which reminds me, I must give mine a clean today.....thanks guys0 -
If you pull hard enough on the drawer it should come out for cleaning then you can give it a good scrub - I even put mine in the dishwasher on occasion. Then you will be able to get into the cavity and give it a good wash. Run the washer enpty afterwards as you may have pushed debris into the machine.0
