i think your original post was confusing. i thought you wanted to add music to a home video.

iirc windows media player rips and burns audio cds. you just needed a cd player and blanks cds. to rip and burn video you need 3rd party software, such as the ones recommended above.

there are reasons why cd/dvds died and you have found just a few of them.

You need to check the type of CD/DVD's that your DVD player requires. I have an old DVD player and it will only play DVD's that I have created/burnt on certain formats of blank DVD discs. Also check it they have to be finalised or not. All this info can normally be found in the DVD manual.
  • Basically I just want to make a copy of the orginal Audio, the orginal Audio is in the CD Audio Track (.cda) which plays on everything I have tried ie DVD player, etc...I just want to ensure the copy I make is also in the same format as the orginal which is in CD Audio Track (.cda) format.

I did make a copy but it ended up in a WAV format and doesnt play on anything except my own computer with certain programs.
  • BTW I have a Toshiba SD2010KB DVD Player which is what I am trying to play the copied CD onto. The orginal plays fine but not the copy which is in WAV format.
    My DVD is compatable with:
    Compatibility CD Audio
    Video CD
    SVCD
    DivX® Playback
    CD-R
    CD-RW
    DVD-R
    DVD-RW
    DVD+R
    DVD+RW
    DVD Video
    Audio CD → MP3 Conversion
    MP3
    JPEG
    NTSC (DVD)
  • Anyone any idea how I can make a copy of the orginal Audio CD onto another blank Audio CD and keep it in the same format as the orginal CD which is in CD Audio Track (.cda) format which will also play on my DVD player as the orginal plays on my DVD player.
  • Thanks I did what you just said but the format ended up the same as the WAV format but I want the copy to be the same as the orginal which is CD Audio Track (.cda) format so it will p[lay in my DVD player.
How can I do this from the start rather than messing with the WAV format copy I have.

By the way I actually did EXACTLY as described. However, when it came to the actually first stage of making a copy it would not allow me to make a copy in ISO format and said as there are multiple tracks it has to be made into BIN format. So I did what it advised.

Then I followed the instructions exactly and put in a Blank DVD+R disc and then followed the instructions exactly and then I got a message saying "Your image doesnt appear to be the correct format for burning onto a DVD"
    "Image track format Audio"
    "dvd format Mode 1"
"Sorry no conversion between the two is possible"
  • Thanks, I only have blank DVD-Rs. I will use the

Thanks, will this programe still work even though I am using Blank DVDs and not blank CDs? and it will be an exact copy of the orginal which is a CD Audio Track (.cda) format so it will p[lay in my DVD player as does the orginal?

CD Audio Track (.cda) files aren't real files. They're abstract representations of audio streams.

You could probably(?) burn an audio CD to DVD, but whether it will play on your device is another matter. It's probably best to just get some blank CD-Rs.

CDBurnerXP has the option to create an "Audio disc" (which is what you want, by the sound of it).

There's a guide to using it here:
