OK I have spent the afternoon trying to copy the audio disk onto the computer.
So I downloaded Imageburner
Switch to 'Read' mode and create image file to disk
Click the 'Mode' menu at the top and then the 'Read' option.
Insert the source disc in the drive
Selected a file to save the copy in
IT then asks what format Bin, Img, ISO< WAVE< , All files
I just left it on the one it was already on which was Bin.
Clicked the big 'Read' button.
Waited while it went from 0% to 100% and then it said it was sucessfully done!
So I went into the folder where it was copied into and found it had made 3 files
IMAGE DISK FILE IMAGE 1kb, IMAGE CDT FILE 647,221 kb , and another IMAGE DISK FILE IMAGE 1kb.
So I tried to listen to it via windows media player and double clicked on IMAGE CDT FILE 647,221 kb but it just brings up the image burn file while saying "You should have selected CUE file and not this one" and wont allow me to play in windows media player or to listen to it?
How can I listen to the copy I just made of it?
as once I have listned to it I need to then edit it as I then need to burn it onto another disk but not the whole file, just need to burn part of the audio.
I thought maybe theres an easier way to copy a Audio DVD once I insert it into my Desktop, so I found the folder and clicked copy and saved it into a location on my computer. And when I click on it, it plays and opens on Windows Media Player, but when I remove the disk from the computer and I open the saved file on my computer it no longer plays, it only plays when I have the disc inserted into the computer.
Why is it so hard and difficult to make a copy of a DVD onto my computer? is there someway of being able to do this?
Well I thought forget about playing the file that I used to burn onto my Computer Ill just burn the copy onto a blank disc, so I put the blank disc in and it says No Writers deteacted? why does it say this? how can I fix it?
Just got off phone with DELL and they said the reason why you can not play the file you burned using imageburner or do anything with it, is because its not an ISO file. They confirmed my Desktop shoudl be able to burn and record without any issues. They did a hardware test etc and its fine. goodness this is not easy
Ive managed to get a WAV File (.wav) copy of it onto my computer and saved but how do I now burn it? The comptuer is not reconsing my bank disk to butn it onto?0 -
Well started at 1pm and now 8.30 and still have not made the burn onto a blank disk.
I have a dell optiplex 3020 I also have a Acer TravelMate B113 Black - Core i3-3227U but havent tried using that to burn it. Ive put in the blank disk and Windows Media PLayer should reconise it but it isnt???
Can both these computers burn a disk?0 -
What are you actually trying to achieve?
Many computers don't even come with a DVD drive these days. With large, cheap hard drives and ubiquitous internet access, DVDs have sort-of been superseded.
I'm a bit rusty on this, but...
Audio CDs (and presumably video DVDs) that play on stereos/TVs don't contain computer files, so they can't simply be copied via Windows Explorer. Instead you need to use a program to "rip" them (convert them into files).
CDs/DVDs can also be structured in a way that allows them to store computer files. But these discs can't (usually) be played on standalone CD/DVD players. They're often referred to as data CDs/DVDs
If you want to create an exact copy of a data CD/DVD, the easiest way is to take an ISO image of the disc. This creates a single file on your computer (with an .ISO extension). You can't do anything directly with an ISO file. You can't play it on your computer. You can't edit it. But you can use a burning program to "burn" the ISO image onto a blank CD/DVD.
Don't make the mistake of just copying the ISO file to a data CD/DVD. You'll just see the ISO file on the disc, and again won't be able to do much with it. You need to explicitly tell the burning program that you want to create a disc from an ISO image. Then the new disc will be an exact copy of the original.
If you want to make any changes to the audio/video, you won't want to take an ISO image. Instead you'll want to copy (or rip) the files from the disc, edit them, and then burn them to a new disc.
If you want to make a disc that plays on standalone CD players, you'll need a burning program that can create audio CDs. If you want to create a DVD that will play on standalone machines, you'll need a "DVD authoring" program.
Hope that helps...0 -

Had a quick google and it looks like those computers came with various options for the optical drive.
I'd imagine you'd get a message of some kind if you tried to burn a disc and it wasn't physically possible.

Ah -- yeah. That also sounds like the disc might not be compatible.
Most drives these days are compatible with the usual kinds of CD and DVD, but not all support dual-layer discs. I'd be pretty confident that single-layer discs would work (assuming your CD/DVD drive isn't faulty).0 -
Can both my laptop and Desktop burn DVDs?
I have a dell optiplex 3020 I also have a Acer TravelMate B113 Black - Core i3-3227U but havent tried using that to burn it. Ive put in the blank disk and Windows Media PLayer should reconise it but it isnt???

So even if I convert it to a ISO it still will not burn onto a DVD?
All I want to do is SAVE a dvd onto my computer and then burn it on to a dvd blank disc.
Ive saved the dvd on my computer but its saved as a WAV File (.wav), shall I convert it to another format so it will burn easy? if so, what format?0 -
I managed to burn it onto a disk but its in WAV File (.wav) on the DVD. It plays on my computer but not on many other things
What format would be the best format to have it in so it plays on most devices? And then how can I convert a WAV File (.wav) to the file others will mention? ie links to a programe?0 -

Right. So you want to create an audio CD that you can play on your hi-fi, in your car stereo, etc...?
In that case, DeepBurner is dead easy to use. Install it, run it, select the option to create an audio CD, drag-and-drop the WAV file into the right pane of DeepBurner, select "Burn Disk", and... that's it.
For it to play on most devices, you'll probably want a CD-R, not a dual-layer DVD :-/
But I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do.

Well 4am and I give up trying to make a copy of this cd onto the computer and onto another black cd in the same format the orginal is in which the orginal is in a CD Audio Track (.cda). started at 3pm.
Ill try again later.
Is it possible to ensure the copy I eventually will make onto a blank DVD will be in the same format as orginal which is CD Audio Track (.cda)?0 -
I managed to make a copy but it ended up in a MP3 format and one in a WAV format but neither of them played on my DVD player, unlike the orginal CD Audio Track (.cda) which played on my DVD player and I need the copy I make to play on my DVD player.0
