Bill for Pub Meal

I would pay as you owe the money.
On the other hand if you just ignore the calls they'll probably not take it any further and you'll very likely get away without paying.
You obviously won't be able to return though!0 -
Yet another OP who won't be back because you've not all told him how right he is and how he shouldn't pay because it's the pub's fault.0

I might be wrong but I didn't think marcarm was actually saying he'd been over-charged, just 'putting the boot on the other foot' based on what the Op wrote, so to speak.
Its one of those things, I feel honesty is good but companies wouldn't hesitate to keep money if you had been overcharged and have policies like check your change before you leave which is fair but means you can be overcharged and not be able to challenge it.
With this being an organisation they seem to be able to do so just as the customer can't challenge the company after they leave the premises but a company can days later.0 -
Go into the pub and explain that you were in last week and only just noticed they have short changed you by £20 - can you have your money.
If they say no, then explain you won't be paying for the drinks they say you had as you paid in full on the night.0 -
I could be wrong but if they have your details and it's your bill don't they have a certain amount of time to ask you for it? It's an invoice and you'll have like 30days to pay it? How are you hard done by? You've had those drinks so it seems pretty fair you pay for them!
like it's already been said if you'd been overcharged you would want your money back and rightly so. Was it a separate bill to the food? You had one bill for the restaurant and drinks you ordered throughout could have been put on a separate one. If they had just not added them to the bill don't think they can then turn round and say you owe them and just add it on, but it sounds like the bill was already there if that makes sense0 -

The pub didn't contact the OP a week later. The OP also wasn't overcharged.

Thank you all for the replies. To clarify a few points: When we first arrived at the pub we opened a tab which absolutely everything throughout the night including all meals and drinks were put on to. Having spoken to the manager over the phone four days later, he said our tab had been split into two receipts (one with the majority of items on and one with some other drinks on). When we paid the bill the amount seemed fair and we certainly did not know that we had been undercharged. We did not walk out of the pub knowing we had underpaid!! The error was made by the bar staff who did not add on the smaller receipt for some drinks we had during the night. This is not our fault.
Despite all this, we will pay up because we are honest people, but the point of my post was to raise the question of how fair this is. I am not trying to find some excuse not to pay, it's our bill, we'll pay it. However if the company wants to maintain a good reputation surely this is not the way to deal with issues such as this. Thanks again for your advice, this is my first post on the site, so apologies if it has come across badly.0 -
It would demonstrate how the pub would act if the shoe was on the other foot.powerful_Rogue wrote: »The pub didn't contact the OP a week later. The OP also wasn't overcharged.
