Keep pestering GP to see if they can get you in earlier. You shouldnt have to pay for something so very important. If not I would go private if you can manage to pay for it Your quality of life is restricted at the moment. How about crowd funding?
This is (a) where I'm coming from and (b) I wondered about CF too.
It's long time to wait when you are suffering so much...physically AND mentally.
Natty (NO ONE ELSE IS TO READ THIS!)- FYI I write lists for the Flyladies that I don't do;)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I'd vote for getting it done asap, Piggers.
Keep calling the secretary - she probably doesn't deal with the lists, as they'll be with somebody in admissions, but she might keep your name in the Consultant's mind, so s/he asks for you to be given a date asap.
As an additional weapon, contacting the Chief Executive's Office 'by accident' to get all your medical records so that your 'legal team' has the documentation ready for immediately after you have been forced to pay for private surgery, what with the constant pain, medical effects, disability and loss of income the wait is causing.... sometimes happens to coincide with a space being found on the operating lists. And lots of managers in expensive shoes trotting around like chickens with their heads chopped off.
I can't imagine how contacting the Chief Exec in error to find stuff that could be used in a legal situation only coincides with urgent surgery time being found or one of the Admissions staff just happens to find a hitherto unnoticed Fire Break Week they don't need.
As far as I'm concerned, small hungry one will be happier and healthier with a Mum who isn't in constant pain with half her insides trying to drop out and take her spine with them. And a Dad who is happier with a painfree partner, etc, etc.
Express frequently in the run up, freeze it and grit your teeth and OH can introduce her to the least bottle-like bottle you can find. If you express throughout your stay, you aren't going to lose your supply and it's only a couple of days - so I'd think it was something akin to having to deal with a growth spurt when you get home; hopefully you'll be in bed for your first days home anyway.
Not doing anything today. He can clean the kitchen (seriously, how does he make it messy so quickly?) and cook dinner. The most I'm going to do is clean the bath through means of having a long soak in there whilst listening to the radio.
PS: to the poster whose relatives 'don't talk' about operations and tape and things, the TVT/tape option hasn't been working out very well for some ladies, and they get very embarrassed by the resulting pain & incontinence - those ladies need to go back to the GP and it should be sorted fairly quickly.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Sorry LW, I know it's an autocorrect, but I couldn't resist.;):rotfl:
All I will say is - if I EVER mention attending such an outing again, will one of you please come round here, tie me to the sofa and yell "NO!!" in the sort of voice you'd use to deal with a recalcitrant Border Terrier. I couldn't even function yesterday, I was so - well, "traumatised" is as good a word as any. :cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Dragged DD out blackberrying. There were lots; we picked about 5 litres...(I'm going on container size); some are being frozen for SW desserts/overnight oats as they are a free food. (Syn free). And some are being jellied. I've cooked them; when they're cool enough to handle I'll start straining them.

Tidied all rooms (apart from spare and room of doom which I don't think will ever be sorted!)
Towels on to wash, now in TD and decided not to put down fresh bath mat - amazed at how much clearer and fresher bathroom looks without it
All windows opened all day, but had to shut living room just now as Scottish Midges have been swarming about the gorgeous bushes and trees out my front!
Man coming to look at replacing kitchen doors tomorrow and give price, fingers crossed he's as good value as I've been led to believe he is0 -
I need a fairly extensive bladder repair (family history probs my mother has had 4 done) including the prolapse which gives rise to infection and the occasional total lack of control.. only very occasional and only when I lean to the left while sitting.. yes, I'm that peculiar!, vaginal prolapse fixing.. again, it keeps unfixing probably due to the bladder prolapse too, endo. removal which is causing near constant bleeding.. however temporary that might be. I also need the muscle repair still which was postponed because I had the 4 smalls. So it is £4000 but quite a range or stuff to be done. This little lot should stop the bleeding constantly, stop some/all of the stomach, back and hip pain. It should stop the infection and any leaks. Obviously if I am in less pain I can hopefully do more/feel better/not want to die most days because if I am truly honest I do.
The other however is.. I'd have to get a medical loan to cover the majority of the payment.. it is this my head is having the most issue with.. my body is screaming do it now!
Pooh, I asked them to just do a hysterectomy when I had the PPH with Twinkle and they refused.. I really wish they had though.
18 months is just how it is.. they have not got the staff to chivvy stuff any quicker and I don't see why my 'urgent' should be any more urgent than someone else in the same position. I've done 1 year another 1.5 is doable, though in the meantime the sex life is nil as it is too painful and/or messy and I'm not really bothered but OH is.
Once I've had sensible thoughts from you all I will speak to OH ..
***I'm not asking for medical advice before the mods hop in.. I am having this done.. I'm asking whether it is worth paying to get it done sooner or if that is the most stupid idea ever and to wait like a good little British person in a never-ending queue.***
Greent .. how did the surgery fit with breastfeeding? Mine is still BF but I am looking at a 2 night stay as a minimum.. she will not go that long without boof.. but in 18 motnhs she might have stopped.. unlikely but she might
The gynae team suggested I stop bf for the op. I said no and contacted the midwifery team - head of midwifery stepped in to allow OH to bring smallest in pretty much on demand (visiting hours were something like 2-4 and 6-8) I won't lie, it was tiring but I also lost a lot of blood during surgery and was right at the border for transfusion - and then refused the hospital iron tablets as they make me constipated (not something you want to be when you've had a hysterectomy!) - they offered lactulose (? - something to shift it anyway) - but I refuse to take a medication for the side effect of another medication at the best of times - let alone when bf (and my 8 month old was tiny - at 12 months he finally reached 0.2 centile in the 'red book' on the weight chart) I also expressed in between visits and sent milk back home with OH.
Because of my surgery related anaemia I stayed in until Fri (op was on the Mon - originally I was due to go home on the Weds) By that time they were pushing to give me a transfusion and that would have meant another night's stay - so I refused and went home to eat lots of spinach, sleep etc.
The breastfeeding itself was fine - I didn't have to express and dump anything (when I had a GA when no 3 was a year old I had to pump and dump for 24 hours - soul destroying) and had a morphine pump for 36 hours and then paracetamol and voltarol suppositories for the next few days, and went home with some codeine based stuff which I didn't take as it makes me spacey (and constipated!) My supply wasn't affected at all - and I doubt yours will be even if you didn't feed for 24 hours tbh - I am guessing your body is so used to it by now to adjust for the odd occasion (I fed all 4 of mine - the last 2 until they were 3 with no 'commercial' milk)
My op was booked in for hysterectomy with bladder and bowel prolapse repairs. A midwife suggested I had endo ablation (? - the removal of layers) instead but honestly - I felt SO much better after the hysterectomy - it was affecting the quality of my life (v heavy & painful periods which would affect bladder control due to the bladder prolapse, uncomfortable sex, I couldn't even sit in the bath due to the uterine prolapse poking out (sorry if tmi) I am glad they left my ovaries - I just had a slightly earlier menopause, but still had it gradually, as opposed to it slamming in the day after the op.
I was up and walking around the ward from day 3 (once I had catheters and wadding removed) - very slowly, but I knew I had to do it to be capable of doing stuff when home with 4 kids once OH went back to work. I was tired for months (and anaemic for almost a year) but was driving (short distances - but the school run took me almost an hour each way walking - and I needed to do it 3x/ day) (and active back in the bedroom) after 3 weeks. Best decision ever from my personal point of view for physical health (and probably mental) I had no qualms about losing anything to do with 'womanhood' - my cervix did/ does not define me as a person
Would they reconsider a hyster for you, pigpen? - it's a long term solution - most others don't seem to see you through 40+ years from what they told me/ I've read.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Kitchen looks like Zombies have struck. I never went blackberry picking there *points* last year - and the place I walk through to get to the bushes was overgrown with nettles.
