Well today was a dead loss as far as flying is concerned. I watched DGD and DGS whileDD cleaned my holiday cottage. We made biscuits, ate strawberries, ate biscuits, watched TV and coloured. Then I flaked.

Went to church this evening, cried, silly moo. Just too tired. I had a few major apnoeas last night. I know I have a lot so am accustomed but last night's scared me.
Oh and DD added me to sick list to be prayed for at church  It meant evetyone wanted to know why...

    I am feeling fine now.

Plan for tomorrow is to completely tidy and clean ground floor as we have visitors from USA on Monday for two weeks. DS1,his wife and MIL. . More on them later....

I need someone who talks sense.. so I'm asking you lot because OH is a muppet about anything and just says 'do as you please'. I have been referred to gynae for 'lady surgery' .. fixing prolapse, nowt too exciting and nothing life threatening. I have been given the options of wait 18months at least to get it done and in the meantime suffer the issues which took me to the GP in the first place.. severe almost constant UTI's, bleeding, pain etc.. OR pay to get it done before christmas.. ie. when I can fit it in around college, school, the baby, childcare etc..

What would you do? I can't really afford in terms of money to pay for it but I cannot afford in terms of my health and wellbeing and actual living of my life leave it for a minimum of 18 months.

I've been pondering on this for weeks and not getting very far.. the NHS gynae referral has gone in just so I am somewhere in the system.. I'm probably on waiting list number 207.. you know the waiting list for the waiting list for the waiting list and so on and so forth..

and I ate a nobbly bobbly.. next time I try to do that will someone slap me.. I always forget they have strawberry in them and it is GROSS and makes me feel sick!

What options are they giving you for fixing it, pigpen? I had a prolapse after child 2 (no 1 was an emergency c-s) which worsened after 3 and 4 so that it was always visible (and therefore uncomfortable) (and worse at certain times) (and also had a cystocele and rectocele of varying degrees to go along with it - basically a totally ****ed pelvic floor - but it's a family trait - the consultant thinks we have weak connective tissue)

I ended up with a hysterectomy at 39 (when youngest was 8 months, so I was still bfeeding and eldest was just 12 and husband worked away Mon-Fri) - they left my ovaries in though, so I didn't have an immediate medical menopause - it took almost 5 years to start kicking in (and in the meantime I had the benefit of not having horrendous heavy and painful AF every month for over a week). Other family members have had tape and stitches and hammock things first (not sure of exact names of procedures - some f my family don't talk about *such issues* (rolls eyes...) - but the problems have recurred after time

While I don't have personal experience, if this is going to stop the other symptoms too are you not a priority case? I would be wanting to ensure that your GP is fully aware of the range of problems with the root cause, and that 18 months is too long to wait, especially if you're getting frequent UTIs as, one assumes, these are painful and debilitating. Can you not ring the consultant's secretary and request a cancellation appointment? (i.e. Take someone else's cancelled appointment?). On a side note a consultant here had the initials PMT - and a personalised car reg.!)

    WM x 2, was pegging out 2 pairs of DS'swork trousers at 6 am. DW x 1.
Bed changed yesterday, am going to move this back to a regular Saturday task to fit in with new work pattern.

Pigpen. I had same problems as you in my 30s. I was very lucky from referral to op was less than 6 months. They went in to do repair and ended up doing hysterectomy but left my ovaries. Would you be happy if that was the final outcome?

I don't see how they can make you wait 18 months. I would phone consultant and ask to go on waiting list for a cancellation. Ask to be bumped up the list. Keep pestering GP to see if they can get you in earlier. You shouldnt have to pay for something so very important. If not I would go private if you can manage to pay for it Your quality of life is restricted at the moment. How about crowd funding?

I need a fairly extensive bladder repair (family history probs my mother has had 4 done) including the prolapse which gives rise to infection and the occasional total lack of control.. only very occasional and only when I lean to the left while sitting.. yes, I'm that peculiar!, vaginal prolapse fixing.. again, it keeps unfixing probably due to the bladder prolapse too, endo. removal which is causing near constant bleeding.. however temporary that might be. I also need the muscle repair still which was postponed because I had the 4 smalls. So it is £4000 but quite a range or stuff to be done. This little lot should stop the bleeding constantly, stop some/all of the stomach, back and hip pain. It should stop the infection and any leaks. Obviously if I am in less pain I can hopefully do more/feel better/not want to die most days because if I am truly honest I do.

The other however is.. I'd have to get a medical loan to cover the majority of the payment.. it is this my head is having the most issue with.. my body is screaming do it now!

Pooh, I asked them to just do a hysterectomy when I had the PPH with Twinkle and they refused.. I really wish they had though.

18 months is just how it is.. they have not got the staff to chivvy stuff any quicker and I don't see why my 'urgent' should be any more urgent than someone else in the same position. I've done 1 year another 1.5 is doable, though in the meantime the sex life is nil as it is too painful and/or messy and I'm not really bothered but OH is.

Once I've had sensible thoughts from you all I will speak to OH ..

***I'm not asking for medical advice before the mods hop in.. I am having this done.. I'm asking whether it is worth paying to get it done sooner or if that is the most stupid idea ever and to wait like a good little British person in a never-ending queue.***

Greent .. how did the surgery fit with breastfeeding? Mine is still BF but I am looking at a 2 night stay as a minimum.. she will not go that long without boof.. but in 18 motnhs she might have stopped.. unlikely but she might ;)

Pigpen: There's been some fantastic advice from people with experience. My two bob's worth: get it all resolved sooner rather than later for your quality of life. OK, there's going to be recuperation time as well as the surgery but the sooner you're booked in, the better IMHO. I do second the idea of seeing if there's a cancellation...
