Hi RoxyK :hello: welcome to the comps forum
I don't think you are breaking any rules by asking if anyone else got the email but usually when it hiccups & you don't receive one, it means no one received one.
You could try reordering the threads? A few of the members work through their comps that way so that they don't jump around when people post a reply onto them.
I was trying to find a good description of this as a few pages back some other members were chatting about it, but I can't put my finger on it just now.
I have just found....Yup - I sort the threads by Thread Start Time - Descending.
That puts the newest comps at the top, I page down a few pages to see where I got to yesterday, then work my way back up to the top.
Doing it this way means I don't need to look at comps I've already read (whether I entered them or not)
and also....I think you are giving yourself a very exhausting time!! TRY THIS!! Go to the bottom of the front page and sort all comps by start date, in descending order, that way you can work your way up or down the list and make a note of which comp you get to. Only subscribe to comps if you can't enter there and then, if you beat yourself up you will end up square eyed and very tired. Do it for fun!!!
This may help a little - the place where you change the way the threads are listed is towards the bottom of the page, under the list of threads & it is called Display Options.
Good Luck!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Thanks very much Velvet Glove for your help, :xmassmile
I figured out a couple of days back how to sort by post date/time which makes life a whole lot easier, especially when trying to work backwards! The moving posts drove me nuts lol.
I'll just crack on then with yesterdays posts. I'm getting behind already. Are there usually more posts at the beginning of the month due to all the regular monthly's being posted? The email for Mon took me ages to workthrough. Finally all done now though. Fingers crossed todays email comes through.....
It's really nice to find such a helpful and nice forum. :rotfl:

You're welcome
When I used to get the daily email I found there were anywhere between 80-130 comps per day posted in this forum (on a really good day it rose to 150! ). Takes a while to get into routine so you don't miss out on comps!
My mum (Motherglove) is currently trying to catch up & she started from the oldest & is working her way forwards to get up to date. When I spoke to her on the phone today she was up to page 69 & still entering, so I feel your pain of trying to get all caught up! I went through it in July & mum is going through it now.
If I were to give one word of advice it would be - don't feel you have to enter every single comp on here - it takes forever & you end up with stuff you didn't really want. Pick & choose your comps as there are always loads to choose from
Any other questions then do yell out, you are right it is really friendly in here as we are all in the same boat - all trying to win, some for fun & the adrenaline rush of the delivery van pulling up outside; some because they are trying to clear some debts by winning then selling their prizes & some for all sorts of reasons in between!
Have fun!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Someone was asking whether a very Welsh address might affect their chances adversely. I was wondering the same thing about age. I quite understand that most competitions need to ask this question to ensure that entrants are above the minimum age, but I suspect that just a touch of "ageism" might creep into the judging. You know the kind of thing - "What the heck does a seventy year-old want an XBox for?"
Perhaps I am just getting paranoid in my old age! Anyway I quite fancy one of those Wii thingies - whatever they are!0 -
Thanks again for your advice VelvetGlove, :rudolf:
I'm now working forwards through the comps so that if the email doesn't turn up I know where I was. It didn't arrive yesterday so I just need to get used to my new system.
I have only been entering the ones I like, its more fun that way and anyway, I don't think I could manage to them all! I also downloaded the Autofill toolbar today which makes things faster too. I think it takes longer to start with as there are so many sites you need to register with. Now I'm registered with quite a few I've noticed its getting quicker to go through the comps which is great :rotfl:
Having recently just given up work due to ill health the comps are a great way to keep occupied, and if I can win some stuff to keep or sell then I shall be really pleased. Either way, it keeps me busy and out of trouble

Maybe a bit premature, but does anyone fancy trying a new target for 2008 as most of us who've been doing it for all of 2007 have gone way past the internet costs challenge?
I don't have any outstanding ideas, but thought about maybe a challenge to win all of our xmas and birthday presents for the year, or perhaps work towards a cash target by the end of 2008.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Getting excited about 2008's comping prospects already! Some people create their own storms....then get upset when it rains!0 -
