Thanks catz helpfull as ever :)

Maybe I need to change my tact.

I seem hell bent on entering the newest comps when I log on that I seem to miss lots.

Maybe I should just goto the last thread and try and work my way forward:confused:

Now that would take forever :(

I missed a couple of days last week and started where I had last left off. It does take ages but I did come across some that were ending that I would otherwise have missed if it hadn't been for ryan85 bumping the day before. I also bumped them for people who may have missed them when they were first posted.
I do understand what you're asking but I do think the only way at the moment is to work your way forward, 'cos as catz747 says, it didn't seem too popular to have that other end-date format, and also if you do come across any that are ending soon you can bump them for others. :D

I 'sort by thread start time' and then work from the back upwards.... that is what i have been doing anyway, that way they dont move when somebody writes on the thread. The only way you can miss them then is if they finish before you get to them.

Im glad that people appreciated me bumping a few! I wasnt sure how some would take to that but I will keep doing it if I think its a comp that isnt to be missed.

Has anyone got an F.Hinds jewellery catalogue?

What page number of F. Hinds' Precious Christmas Gifts Catalogue is the Status Quo Collector's Edition featured?

Also did anyone get the express newspaper this weekend for the codes? (Thanks gingerchick) :D

I start where I finished the night before - I spent over a week catching up after missing 2 days when I was away.

I did also find it very frustrating at the amount of bumped posts. I know that is going against what a lot of people have said, but it wasted a lot of time for me.

I guess it is a personal thing, and nothing will suit everyone.

And there is that forum rule:

    8. No Bumping Of Posts. Please do not just bump posts for the sake of it. This disrupts the boards

I know people will say that bumping before the end is not 'just for the sake of it' but its not as if no one has seen them - just a small minority judging by the number of 'thanks' on the bumped posts.

I agree with Josie - not keen on anything being bumped, but it is the ones that just say 'thanks' that are the most annoying, rather than ones where someone has a genuine reason to bump it.

I'm not too keen on posts being bumped either, but I do recognise you are never going to please everyone all of the time on a forum like this.

I am never up to date with competitions posted here, but whenever I stop I make a note of the last date/time of competition posted.

That way, when I go back to it, I can find where I was and keep working my way up the list.

It's easy to do, just click on "Thread" (where it says "Thread / Thread Starter" above the topics). This will order the posts by title. You can then go through the pages for the appropriate date. E.g. when I was entering comps that ended 30/11 I was at about page 60 I think. Of course being earlier in the month now it'll be in the first few pages.

Thanks for this. I did highlight this to ryan85k in an earlier post but then thought I was being the only grump on this board :o .

Sorry, I don't appreciate threads being bumped for the sake of it either. Unfortunatley, the only way to do it at the present is to work back.
I'm just grateful for people posting at all and putting the answers ~ that alone takes a lot of time Its probably the only site that does this. (I don't think its being grumpy either, Baby Giant & Josie ~ cake & eat it crosses my mind) It takes a while to do it, and then you end up missing posts because of posting.

Well i'm a grump too cos I don't like bumping! Its so easy to duplicate an entry in a comp thats been bumped especially if you're rushing and don't have time to double check if you've already entered. Sorry!

    NOW IN COMPING SEMI-RETIREMENT! :D
