Competitions Discussion Thread Part 3

I believe there is already an MSE policy on 'vote' threads & that is that they are not permitted. I read the thread complaining about 'vote for me' threads in the Forum Policy & Rules Discussion board & the outcome is that the threads are not allowed at all. Not here or on the Referrals board.
The post ginjim makes reference to is titled "Competition "vote for me" Threads NOT PERMITTED"
So, I believe, from Browntoa's post that any 'vote for me' threads will be deleted from here on in.
I think I'm in the same camp as ginjim as to where would you draw the line... 100 posts? 500 posts? The line has been drawn for us in this kind of situation now & it is that -- there is no line. 'Vote for me' threads will (if I'm reading that correctly) be deleted. Of course, I'm only going by what I can read there, please correct me if I'm being ditzy!
At least we know site policy in this now thanks to your thread jen.engSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Dear Compers,
I have a noble idea. As you are aware Kipper has recently been appointed as a top dog just after reaching 500,000 posts. I am new to this board but it is more than apparent that us compers and this board in general owe much to the hard work that Kipper puts into finding and posting threads for us all to enter.
I am assuming that Kipper will now have less time to not only find comps but also to enter comps herself. Why dont we all agree a day (a weekend maybe?) where all registered users find and post competitions instead of just entering them? Effectively making us all 'Kipper for a Day'.
Hopefully we will not only give Kipper a well deserved break but can also all see the benefits on each others universal efforts to find comps..... the more we have to enter the better afterall (law of averages and all that).
What do you think?0 -
Don't other people find and post comps anyway?Darren0

Don't other people find and post comps anyway?
No need for sarcasm but if you really want me to answer your question I would say not as many as kipper, which is a fact, my idea is for everybody to dedicate a day for finding comps and not entering them, not solely for the benefit of one individual but for all posters and the board in general. I think people that find any that aren't already on post them anyway, i try to post comps, but most i find have already been posted...0

have to say I was thinking the same to be honest. I think the majority of people do post if they find comps that havent already been posted
Ok fair enough it was a crap idea. But its still common sense that if everybody looks for comps then we will find more comps, you two might have thousands of posts but there are still thousands of comps out there that havent been posted and still hundreds of people that use this board without looking for or posting comps.
Anyway..... i'll be on my way im going to look for some comps.0 -
I wasn't being sarcy but if you want me to be honest i think it's a bad idea and that's putting it nicely.Other people do post yes not as big a comps or maybe as many as Kipper as we all know she finds the most but it's not like she's the only one that does post them.So we should all suffer and not have comps on a weekend because Kipper has stopped?
Also i could be wrong but i think Kipper doesn't post so many on a weekend at the moment anyway:)
As Hjb has just said if people find comps they would post them regardless.Darren0 -
Nice thought ryan, but I think everyone posts as many as they can find that haven't already been posted.
It's often difficult to find comps that haven't already been posted! but I think we all try.
