Hello all,
I Have noticed something with e-mail competitions from the competitions thread.
I have entered quite a few e-mail comps using the clicky straight to my e-mail service. This mostly does not give a 'subject' and is in my own format ( signature has all my name, adress etc).
But i have tried using e-mail clickys from both the 'comp thread' and 'website of competition' on the same competition.
sometimes the 'web' clicky will take me to my e-mail service and automatically give a subject to enter to ( important apparently as automatic e-mail sorters will only take the ones specific to them)
The Web Clicky also formats the e-mail into How you should give details
answer:
Name:
address:
age:
Tel:
will they be looking for an answer in this format?
will they suspect a different source to the competition if it is not in this format?
I'm thinking that it may be safer to use the web clicky or highlight this fact to comp posters ( who are all brilliant!) who can maybe alter the clickys to suit.
Am I being paranoid? or may i have a point here?
One last question. When web sites and comp threads give a subject to enter to, do you have to include the apostrophe on either side?
Example 'peanut'
Will it have any affect on the validity if i do / don't?
Please let me know your thoughtsCrossing off my Bucket List. Not going to wait for a nod from the Doctor!!0 -
To answer your last bit: no, you can leave the quotation marks off - I am pretty sure that they are there so that you know exactly what to put in the subject field.

I'd like to think they can appreciate that some people will manually type the email address into a 'new message' on their email program along with the subject and information and that therefore it will be a different format.
Personally I click on the clickies if there is no subject line & stuff just to check and see what the formatting of the email is.
I think that as long as all the info is there, they won't mind too much - hope not anyway
Also on the prima ones where it is 'prima giveaway' or whatever, I leave the quotes on because I copy and paste the text to the box and am too lazy to delete the ' '. I don't think it greatly matters either, it's just so that can see which comp you're entering0 -
Ok so does WEM mean winning email

Hi Kacy
Yeps WEM is Winning EMail
LWE - Long Winners Envelope (as postal advice of a win is usually in a long white envelope)
WPC - Winning Phone Call
I have received a WEM on a Sunday afternoon before now, so I think it just depends on the size/setup of the companySad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -

I think all the comps I need are on here
It's plenty for me and I seem to do OK. Also feels great that I don't pay anything - except for time

Scroll down to the bottom of the main comp page and at the bottom of the list of threads is 'Display Options'. There is a drop down menu for 'Sorted by', select 'Thread Start Time' and then click the button 'Show Thread's.
thanks for that ..

I did Simply Prizes for 6 months as it was a subscription offer but most of the comps were on here and I only got one win from them (a Water Butt) so personally I think this site is the best way.
Local newspapers are always worth checking for postal comps as I think they really don't get that many enteries and I have won a couple of these
Good Luck and carry on compin!total wins 2013 £5500 2014 £7500 2015 £23,900 2016 £10,650 2017 £13,040 2018 £10,620 2019 £10,115 2020 £3970.00
