I am totally confused by the puzzler thread and all the links and numbers - can someone explain how it works? I can only see start times and not end dates and there is something about colour groupings things with the same answers!
I really need a beginners guide if anyone has the time to explain it.
Ta
KirsteenOh yeah, me too.
I've wondered about that for months.
I'll give it a try - I thought the same as you two but then I sat down & read the whole darn thread (huge long thing it was!) & started to get a glimmer of understanding so let me share my thoughts to save you the time reading!
.- You need to goto www.puzzler.com & register there so you can log in & access the magazine & online competitions there.
When you've logged in, just below the Puzzler logo, there is a menu option for 'Puzzles & Prizes' (just next to 'Home'). Go there.
. - In the 'Prizes' box - (bright pink outline, left hand side menu) click 'Online Competitions' & scroll down.
There you will find online comps like crosswords, wordsearches, fillwords which you can either do yourself or wait for someone lovely to post a pic of the completed puzzle that you can copy the answers from
. - In the 'Prizes' box - (bright pink outline, left hand side menu) click 'Magazine Competitions' & to the right you should see a drop down menu which says 'Select Issue' - this is where all the magazines are listed that can be entered online.
.
If you select any mag from the list you should then have a display about the closing date, competition ID code & what prize it is - with a box for you to type the answer in for each separate comp in that particular magazine.
Some mags have only 1 prize comp, others have a few.
The First Post on the thread is like an index to all the current comps which are on the site. There are colour codings & links & end dates. I'll take each in turn
Colour Codings
These just show which magazines have competitions which have the same competition ID in them (ie, the same answer is published in a few different magazines which have different puzzles to be solved to reach that single answer. Handy if you like crosswords but hate wordsearches etc).
Puzzler Arrowords 47
Puzzler Code Words 126
Puzzler Crossword 15
Puzzler Kriss Kross 73
Puzzler Quick Crosswords 132
These mags above were all colour coded the same colour & grouped together on the page - this means we know at a glance that we only have to buy 1 of those listed mags (usually with your preferred method of quizes) to get the answers to all of them!
All those comps have the Comp ID: 7163 so when you answer 1 mag with 'COLD' which was the answer, then it will automatically fill all the other comps which have Comp ID: 7163 with the same answer.
Links
If a magazine has more than 1 Comp in it then the first post will usually link to the post within the thread that has the answers to that particular magazine.
I have to say I don't use the first post an awful lot as I tend to read the whole thread & thank the post to thank them for buying the mag & posting the answer & also so I know next time where I got up to!
End Dates
Well, I think the end dates are quite straightforward, what may be a little confusing are the other dates which let us know that a new mag has just been released (or will be soon) so it is on the list of mags on site which will need an answer. Think of those as prompts for folk so we remember to keep a look out for & buy the mag!
I'm hoping that has cleared up a few of the queries & confusing bits but if not then yell out & I'll fill in any gaps
(Sorry this was so long but it is hard to make this a short explanation! I tried & it was like gibberish! )Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 - You need to goto www.puzzler.com & register there so you can log in & access the magazine & online competitions there.

It comes up with a message in red which says you have exceeded your quota for the comp (or something like that) so you can't enter too many times - it will stop youSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
