Tomorrow is D-Day and it feels odd, my classroom is a state, but I can't wait to walk out of there and know that I am free of the !!!!!es of Eastwick!

I went over to my new school today as I had a very long email yesterday with a gazillion things that need to be done by the first day of term and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by it. Thankfully, I was, no surprise I guess, worrying about not much, as I was able to find out the information easily and have come away with lots of bits of paper to help me set myself up. Phew!!!

KW took DD and I out for dinner tonight, down by the river, it was so lovely to watch people swimming, fishing, and count all the ducks :)

*Sob*, I've now said goodbye to the most amazing class I've ever had, and have cried lots :( The head gave me a lovely speech in church, which set me off - partly because I knew she didn't mean a word of it, but it made her look good ;(

Anyway, I'm sitting at home, just about to go out to an outdoor theatre with my beloved KW and DD, and looking at the gorgeous flowers and other amazing presents.

I will be going back into that school a couple of times in the holiday as I'm taking the fish!

This morning, KW and I have been looking at pictures of our kittens! His brother's cat has had a litter of 5 gorgeous kitties, and we're going to have 2 of them - a black boy and a ginger, well there's a choice of 3, either sex. I'm SO excited!!

I'm conscious that I'm spending money left, right and centre, so am going to focus on meal planning and making snacks and picnic goodies as snack spending has started creeping up.

I still need to tackle my huge number of bags around the place, I can see 3 bags and 2 piles of books to be sold in the sitting room alone!!

It's ok. That's normal when you are moving home. It'll calm down. Here is wishing for a wonderful summer. Hooray you have done it all - changed jobs, moved home and having a great summer. Wonderful news. Have a good day.

Hoorah! 3.5% pay rise for teachers, about time too! As I explained to DD, I'm still going to be earning about £8k in digits LESS than I did 15 years ago, so with inflation that'll be a huge amount more....but, no teacher is in it for the money!

We're at my parents, having had a sleepover and my car is being serviced today by our amazing local mechanic. Fingers crossed, I don't need anything expensive doing to it.

I've booked DD and I a hotel for 2 nights in Margate from Monday - I've never stayed in Kent, and it was a lot cheaper and closer than my original plan of St Ives. We're very excited about having a mummy daughter road trip :) and very practised in the art of having free or cheap fun and picnicking :)

The hotel we're going to be staying at has apparently featured on the Hotel Inspector programme!

I wonder how long it will be before we get it? In FE funding cuts have meant we have had major wage cuts or redundancies as well as inflationary cuts. At least the govt is realising the effect this has had on recruitment. We shall see...…

Glad you are going away with DD. Fab news make the most of the glorious weather in Margate. :j:beer:

I live near Margate, I suspect you are staying at the Walpole! Enjoy your trip to our lovely area. Do explore the Old Town, and pop over to Broadstairs too

Thank you Carolbee, it was a toss up between Margate and Broadstairs and I chose the former as I've heard more about it! Kent is a foreign country to me, I've only been to Canterbury Cathedral and taken a ferry from Dover.....so it's all pretty darned exciting!

My car is all serviced and lovely, but at £285, it should be....gulp. 100,000 mile service was a big one. KW has said he'd like to pay half, which if as and when he does, I'll use for holiday spending money as I'm not expecting it. Lovely chap :)

It's still too hot to sleep...!!!8230;.well, for me, anyway, so I'm downstairs using our new broadband connection (yay!!)

Today was quite expensive but not -

£285 car service (would have probably been more at the dealership)
£25 haircut and eyebrow shape (cheap as chips, I used to spend £12 on just my eyebrows!)

£10 max on groceries in Aldi (cheaper than Waitrose)
£34 rather than £50 on a lawnmower (which KW's dad is hopefully going to pay for as a housewarming pressie :) )

Slightly less expensive day today, thank goodness! We were going to buy a bookcase for the sitting room in Ikea, but when DD and I tried to pick the box up, it was rather heavy....and very long....so we had to leave it!

I cooked fabulously tasty chickpea, courgette and oat veggie balls and pasta tonight - unfortunately it looked vile as the veggie balls disintegrated in the tomato sauce, but KW's taking the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch anyway :)

I was really hoping it would rain tonight, but so far, we've had 2 very little bits of spitting and no downpour :( Fingers crossed it is a bit cooler tomorrow, I was to hot and sticky today.

Have only used cash for shopping today and KW has transferred money for the car, bless *swoon*
