Apricot jam first (in my experience) coats the cake so the marzipan goes on more smoothly. Then the icing.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Hope the icing went well Pippi. I was always a cheapskate and used marmalade - apricot jam is always so dear. I hope the cakes look spiffing

Good morning both! Well I read apricot and boil then strain.
I had redcurrant jelly - worked a treat. As it was 'real' it wasn't too crazy bright red either.
Thanks for the tips I followed this link
Left for the obligatory 24 hours then I'll do the icing. Making a carrot cake today for the top layer which will be cooled and similarly treated although marizpan on carrot cake and then icing BLEURGH.
However as I don't like cake, I'll be fine.
Hope you're all well HM dinner of fish and rice and then snoozleland for me last night. DW is on, dugs are fed and about to bath them.
Its going to be messy.

Hey INOD looks like we're keeping each other company I've just got me tins out.
Dug bathed and me hair dyed and showered so we're both shiny and clean.
Cake stuff out and the kettle is on. So time to get a cuppa and get cracking I've got a pot of soup on the go - stock is in now for some ingredients.
