Thanks. Unfortunately styling and practicality are less important to me than cost lol. But thanks anyway :)
Yeah it's not that bad, I would probably just go with whichever's cheaper.

I got my Fiesta as a 3 door not 5 because I just think the 3 door looks so much better - having big doors is not too much of a trouble, at least for me. Just means I need to park in spaces with a little more room.

In a supermini it's not too bad, but bigger cars it gets worse. My dad's 3 series is a 2 door and the doors are massive, he often can't park in a car park at all.

I never thought about it like that. Would have just presumed 5 doors=bigger vehicle=bigger insurance costs
    Thanks for your help
The car will be the same size whether it has 3 or 5 doors.

Really? 5 doors always looks bigger to me, but then I've never put them next to one another to compare. Guess its just the shape that makes it seem that way then.

If they are the same size I guess that pretty much answers my question about cost.

    Thanks for your help :)

Yes, they'll have the same dimensions. The only difference in shape might be the roofline at the back. That with the different shape of windows may look the 3dr look smaller, but it's not. :)

You could always compromise and buy a car with two doors on one side and one on the other.

It's not the same in every case on every car.

Trust us on this - there is going to be negligable difference in costs over the course of any given year, comparing car for car.

Its down to styling preference and practicality.

Any other financial benefit is purely incidental

    3-door
    More rigid body
Fewer moving parts to develop rattles
    Lighter
    Slightly cheaper to buy

I think in some cases the 3-door is priced higher as a sort of premium option. BMW used to on the 3-series but I don't know if that is still the case.

I really don't understand this countries obsession with 3 door cars.

I only see them as a bad thing.

Once ended up sideways in a field back in those black ice crazy winters. It was in a 3 door corsa. Opening the door upwards was not easy. Woulkd have been easier in a 5 door! And you know what. After insurance paid out I got a corsa again that was exactly the same, except 5 doors.

Only thing I think a 5 door changes in direct preice is that they are often £500 more than the 3 door which makes no sense since it costs the companies more to make em since pretty much only the UK wants them!

AT least that is my experience. As soon as the car is out the dealer yard though the difference dissapears!

I can't see anywhere on the Vauxhall website where you can do this?
    Just download the brochures.

Or go in and configure your car. It literally took all of 20 secs to configure the same 1.4 (75psi) Energy model in both 3 and 5 door to find that they both have the same economy and C02 emissions figures.
